I wish you and your family best of luck with kitty! It sounds like it has been quite a battle.I know how difficult it is..it's much like losing a member of the family , not just a "pet."
Their is a website I would like to pass on to everyone. http://www.in-memory-of-pets.com/ When I lost my ferret Toby in March , this site really helped me. I left a tribute along with my favorite picture of Toby. In a way it gave me closure.

Horses and dogs are not my whole life....But they make my life whole!
Well as of this afternoon, Max our kitty is gone. My wife went out of town this week and we agreed that I would take care of him during this time. That is why we waited. I found a vet nearby that I will be giving our future business to. He was so kind and professional. It was over quickly and humanely. The best part was that the vet said we were doing the right thing.
Here is a photo of Max during better times. It is the only digital shot I have of him, but not the best though.

JP, my heartfelt condolences! I am sure you miss Max badly, but he is in Kitty heaven now and hope you feel at peace with your decision to let him go. I think that is the hardest part with us pet owners....when to let them go. He was a beautiful guy, but in a better place. Y'all take care and my heart and prayers are with ya'll!
