Remember the beauty Amber Pool Geese fly in V A murder in tree sing like a million children crying A wise man kneels at waters edge skips a stone shakes his head Have we forgotten the beauty of Rain seperated ourselves from this plane Fields grow small and buildings tall a wise man sighs as geese fly by and hopes it is not good bye |

I especially liked these two lines. I am afraid so many have forgotten the beauty of Rain. And as one who worked in Conservation in an urban county, I saw over and over again the fields grow small as the buildings grew tall. I too sigh and hope it's not goodbye...... Beautiful...... |

Barddas, These are the feeling I have when I go wading in my favorite river. Especially when it is raining, not heavy though just a soft rain where the birds darts around you and the animals are moving about. Usually I am there by myself and all is quiet except for the running water and the movements of the animals. I have often wondered how soon will it be before there are buildings around me and traffic running back and forth. It is depressing but I think of now and there are no buildings and traffic and think how wonderful it is to be here and to be able to enjoy it. Thank you for reminding me of these feeling that I have inside of me. Good Poem or Rambling thoughts, which ever you want to call them, I enjoyed it. Richard |

Barddas, Thank you so much for sharing with us. You are so right in your poem. It is heart wrenching to think of what we loose when we gains something new. May the Goddess Open our eyes. |

This was inspired by a few things... Obviously the first time I went hunting, but from a book I reread... It touched on this and brought that thought back to m'head The First Hunt The boy holds the rifle tight His stomache in knots since the night before His brow runs with sweat Then he hears a noise and turns his head Standing there in the clearing is the white deer Trembling hands, he tries to steady as he take aim Through the sites the deer stands unknowing Trying to squeeze the trigger Emotions fill his brain What would Dad think, What would Grandpa say? If I can not take its life He takes a breath to clear his head And knows his families need for what this kill will give A blast of powder, and the deer falls to the ground The boy sighs a sigh of relief, and feels a bit of grief |
Posted by: Elspeth 26-Nov-2003, 01:46 PM |
Hey 'old fool' I know another inspiration! John-Boy's first turkey hunt? Got swept away in that image so that I saw into his head as I read it. (exchange quarry) I like the sigh of relief and feels a bit of grief. I always thought it would be cool to hunt, but I knew, even if I hunted out of necessity, I would feel that grief. 'old woman' |

I love scarecrows. They have this aura about them, a sence of unknown. Is there some kind of life in that body... does he long to be off his cross? Is there a monster underneath the hat.....I just think they provoke an exillerating, unsettleing fear.....like being watched Scarecrow Beneath luminous disk, he hangs like the martyr of life Causing fear in the youngest of hearts Is he what bumps in the night? His ragged pants and flannel shirt Wanting the life that beats in every chest O' this man of straw, and hay Listen to him moan Is he the cause of your deepest fears? To sleep by security of light For fear he just might That you feel his lips of burlap at you neck Devouring lifes necture sweet Wake in a panic for fear of the night Creep to the window to see if he still hangs Out the glass, by break of day Poised like a sacrificial bane He is there to scare another day |

Jason, This is awesome. I too have always loved scarecrows, but more as the Wizard of Oz, loveable type. Now, I'm scared!. I especially liked, Is he what bumps in the night? His ragged pants and flannel shirt Wanting the life that beats in every chest Is he the cause of your deepest fears? and Wake in a panic for fear of the night Creep to the window to see if he still hangs Out the glass, by break of day |

Thank you Espeth! Sorry to have scared you.. it' my job though... something I'm good at..LOL! I like Oz's scarecrow too! But, there job is to scare away the only thing that comes to visit them.... sortta sad really.... |
Posted by: Roisin-Teagan 09-Jan-2004, 02:38 PM |
Jason, This one is very good indeed! Great imagery and descriptive language! I like the way you think...your always looking for the mysterious and strange. I remember as a child visiting a relative's farm in Georgia and seeing a scarecrow in the corn field and being scared silly. I too felt like someone was watching me...jeepers-creepers! Have you ever thought of writing a children's book? The scarecrow would be a great theme or storyline especially after you've finish adding your magic touch of the mysterious and strange. Children would love it. Not for the kids 5 and under though. |

There are so many possibilities for this!!!! My wife may not be as enthused as I.. that just means another project I have..LOL!!! Actually she NEVER minds!!! She is so supportive of all my weirdness... LOL! |

Hey there Bardy *hugs* I really like this last one, he came to life visualy for me, very quickly, which I find is hard for most writers to do for me. but he also gave me that sense of fear with the sucking of life part, kinda reminded me of a Vamp sucking the lifes blood away from it's prey. WOW! what a visual!!!!! This one is great! * Hands Bardy the Golden Visual Badge lined with Diamonds* See ya soon. |

From the inside- He lies in the bed motionless voices of his loved ones come out of the darkness Alive with no voice, no motion he sceams wicked screams that only he can hear By their reaction it is as if he isn't here hours pass as if weeks, weeks as if months this prison of the mind, that is his cell until the door opens and conciousness means he's well |
Posted by: RavenWing 23-Jan-2004, 03:12 PM |
That is frickin awesome. seriously. |

Thank you. This was inspired by my friends dad who had a minor stroke a few weeks ago, and then a coma. It was very upsetting for my friend because they did not know the extent of damage caused by the stoke, because he was in a coma. And i was thinking what his dad might be thinking having all his loved ones around, and not being able to say or do anything. That seems very frightening to me! But thankfully he is doing well, and the stroke seems to have not done any real damage.... |

Bardy, I read your latest one the same day you posted it and it left me speechless. It has been on my mind ever since. You have given insight to something most if not all of us wonder about. You left me astounded, my heart was breaking for this person. The pure frustration at not being able to communicate when they wished to must have been hell. Thank you for bringing this here. It is truly a work of Art. Many |

How do we forgive those that have caused us so much pain? Do we forgive them in this life, or the next? Will they ever know the overwhelming desperation and lonliness? Or have to pick up the pieces of their broken heart, like the hundereds of shardes of a broken mirror? How do we forgive those that have caused us this pain? When all we gave was love.... JPM 6/99 This was written right after the end of my first marriage.... Applied then.... Not now... Much happier NOW! As those that know me already know Stumbled across it.... thought I would post it since I hadn't seen it in a few years..... |
Posted by: Angel Whitefang (Rider) 07-Feb-2004, 10:20 AM |
I have known those feelings in the past. We are Both happier my friend. Thanks for sharing that, it is beautiful. |

I've read this one many, many times since it had been posted - to tell the truth, I already do know it by heart! It's beautiful! I echo every single letter, really; this is what one is going through... All is MUCH better now, for you, for me as well ...thank you so much for sharing ! |
Posted by: barddas 10-Feb-2004, 08:06 AM |
Thank you *SO* much for the kind words..... That was a very, very hard time to live through....Sometimes I didn't think I would ever get out of the downward spiral..... But out of no where..... I seemed to make it to the end of it.... And I am better off having gone through it. It sucked, it was painful... but i wouldn't change a thing... Thank you again, for the kind words.. this twice this morning I have gotten a big smile from friends here... Thanks for making my day a wee bit more cheerful! |
Posted by: gaberlunzie 10-Feb-2004, 08:17 AM |
Hehe, see, this is what friends are for... besides some other things... Have a wonderful day ....oh, and please, more ramblings of your brain ! |

Hey old fool, I haven't been on here for a while. You've been busy. Awesome work, man, you're making me envious. The one about the coma, one does wonder what it is like, how much is percieved. But the last one really got me. "Or have to pick up the pieces of their broken heart, like the hundereds of shardes of a broken mirror?" Even when those shards are glued back together, all of the pieces are never found. There remains forever those tiny empty places that nothing, not even time, can ever fill. Shattered, broken pieces of a mirror when all we gave was love. Yep. Most definately been there. Alright, already give me something happy! |
Posted by: barddas 13-Feb-2004, 02:28 PM
Ok.. something happier.. This is 100% making it up as I write it! So if it sucks sorry.... I had the idea .. and now I'm am going to see where it takes us.... Go to sleep m'little one Now hush and close yer eyes Daddy's going to sing to you a pretty lullaby I'll sing about for off lands and castles in the sky I'll sing a song of love that will stand the test of time Ah, lalah, lala lala, Ah la lah lalah Ah, lalah, lala lala, Ah la lah lalah I see you layin' watchin me holdin' up yer eyes it's time for you to go to sleep While I sing yer lullaby I'll see you in the mornin' I say as you rub your eyes Drift into the faerie lands like stories that I've told Run, and fly and laugh and play to wake to sunshine day Ah, lalah, lala lala, Ah la lah lalah Ah, lalah, lala lala, Ah la lah lalah I sit and watch you as you drift Into a peaceful sleep And wonder what I did To deserve a gift like this I'll sing a song for you until I'm old and grey I'll sing a song of love for you Until your grown and moved away Ah, lalah, lala lala, Ah la lah lalah Ah, lalah, lala lala, Ah la lah lalah (Don't be too mean.....) |

Beautiful Jason. Brought tears to my eyes. And lullabyes can be sung to adults too. |
Posted by: gaberlunzie 14-Feb-2004, 02:00 PM |
I'm with you, Elspeth! I also had a tear in my eyes. It reminds me so much of the time when my sons were babies and how deep a parent's love for the wee owns is... It's so beautiful, barddas, thank you! |

Symphony of night Perched high above the land By darkness of new moon light The air fills with songs of the night Chips and squawks, flutters and flips A song that has been sung since the dawn of time Through the music comes a simple lyric Sung over and over A question To which nothing replies Then A careless percussive crack! Singles out this one tonight And answers the question tonight Soaring on silent wings a spector of the night And now another becomes victim to the night Still the music carries on And the song sung again Who Who Who |
Posted by: Angel Whitefang (Rider) 17-Feb-2004, 03:15 PM |
SWEEEEEEEEEEET! I love the part where you say.... Soaring on silent wings a spector of the night And now another becomes victim to the night Still the music carries on And the song sung again this is cool! |

cool imagry of the owl =) Singing his immortal song in the dark of the night. Singing to the trees, and to the fairies, in delicate flight. |
Posted by: barddas 17-Feb-2004, 05:59 PM
It's about an owl!!!!???? Sorry I couldn't resist!!!! Thank you sir!!! |
Posted by: Roisin-Teagan 18-Feb-2004, 03:05 AM
Jason, you sure like making us wonder what your really writing about. In many of your pieces you have written, I find several layers of meaning or inferrence. Not many writers I have come across have this ability. Your gift is very rare indeed and inspires me as a writer! Roisin, |
Posted by: barddas 18-Feb-2004, 07:20 AM
WOW.... Thank you!!!! It really makes it much easier to post things with such supportive friends and other writers. I have *always* shyed away from sharing things I write. Thank you for the confidence, and all the kind words!!!! I know the things I write are not the usual pennings..... Normally strange and unusual to most...well if the shoe fits.... Thank you again, and again, and again!!!! |
Posted by: Aaediwen 18-Feb-2004, 07:06 PM |
An owl is <I>who</I> I see there =) There are others who sing similar immortal songs, yet it is the owl with which it is most associated, so that's the placement I see =) |

I was just tryin' to be humorous..or sarcastic.... sorry.... I thought I was being a lil' funny.. |
Posted by: Aaediwen 19-Feb-2004, 06:24 PM |
Didn't mean to ruin the fun I'm bad for that I guess, always want to explain myself when someone's trying to be satcastic. It's not that I don't recognise the sarcasm, guess there have been just too many times when someone was being serious and I misread it as sarcasm, that it throws up my defenses... |

I heard the news today- JPM She sat him down Held his hand Told him of what they had not planned A moment in time Stopped mid frame Two lost hearts forever entiwined by her words and the gift to arrive in the months to come Chesshire smile crossed his face Now knowing his purpose, his place for what news had been told today Through thick and thin, good and bad He proudly accepts the role of 'dad' |
Posted by: Roisin-Teagan 18-May-2004, 08:32 AM |
Hey Jason, Are writing from personal experience???? Are you becoming a dad? |
Posted by: barddas 18-May-2004, 09:22 AM
No, not me. My sis in law, and one of my best friends...... Two people that have been handed bad cards in the love department. And they were knudged to one another..... If two people I care about deserve to be happy, it's them........ One day though.......one day..... |
Posted by: Roisin-Teagan 19-May-2004, 12:08 AM |
Jason, I know you would make a great dad---especially when tucking the wee ones in for the night...Oh, the stories you'd tell to lull them into dreamland. Congrats...Your becoming an uncle. |
Posted by: Angel Whitefang (Rider) 19-May-2004, 04:09 PM |

Ode to John Barleycorn His head rose with the morning sun day in, day out, he slaved under swealtering sky Autumn approched and he stood tall with gold and russet hair that whisped in the wind Three men, sythes so sharp Cut Johnny down He was bound and crushed with stone Three took his life, and three times taken Cut, crushed, and drowned S now in memory of him We raise a glass Give toast to him for his sacrifice Tae the life of the fields with in our glass John Barelycorn we drink the last |

Cornbread anyone??? First I've ever heard of the story...I really enjoyed it. Jason could you give me the background/history of the story. Thanks. Roisin |
Posted by: barddas 18-Jun-2004, 08:46 PM |
http://www.pokkettz.demon.co.uk/barleycorn/about.html There ya go, Roisin. This is a link to the Trad song about the subject. John Barleycorn was a name given to barley which was the main grain in Europe/GB..... Hence the life of the fields..... You'll see when you read the lyrics Thanks... |

The person who introduced me to this song wasn't much for the Celtic traditions, but hears about them from myself and his SO. He liked it because he thought they really tortured the poor fellow. LOL I think it bummed him out a bit when told him what was really going on. |

Thanks...Jason. |
