Cs Lewis & The New Narnia Movie, This may be good!

Celtic Guardian Group: Celtic Nation Posts: 1,127 Joined: 25-Nov-2003 Zodiac: Ash	Okay I must say right away that I am a huge CS Lewis fan but its of his Christian faith & spirituality writings not the Narnia books. But I swear I keep seeing these ads for the Chronicles of Narnia movie, and I'm remembering what I did like about 'The Lion The Witch and the Wardrobe' and doggone but I think I'm going to read the whole series this time and see what the hubbub is about. What do y'all think about the Narnia books? A balance between Harry Potter and LOTR. I am anxious to see the movie, they had better do it justice!

*chuckling*.... i find it amazing that people are still saying the books are in the wrong order........... gee c.s. lewis was clever enough to write them but not smart enough to know which order they should be in........??

I saw the cartoon and thought it was funny. I saw the PBS versions of the books and thought it was funny. i am excited about the movies that are coming out. A little worried of course cause we don't know how they're going to interpret them...ya same feelings as when we heard the LOTR was being turned into a movie. Anyway does anyone know who the director of these movies is? -------------------- There's a dear little plant that grows in our Isle Twas St . Come to think of it, I do believe I read the Magician's Nephew awhile back. Has anyone read the whole series, and what do you think of them as a series - do we need to read the whole set to enjoy the experience fully, or are particular books within the series better than others? Children's literature is really one of my big things, but for some reason I never read this series, even though Lewis and Tolkien were close friends and colleagues, and I am the consummate Tolkien devotee. I think I heard once it was a little pedantic in the way it puts out the theological themes. (Shame on me for not finding out for myself, of course.) Of course The Chronicles of Narnia is now on my short list. . . what with the film coming out. I actually located an edition with all of it in one big volume (nice for dragging around and getting it really doggy reading under trees ). I have read that they are taking the film extremely seriously for theme, and the trailers I have seen show that they are using the same highly skilled, devoted and slightly mad production and CG animation crew Peter Jackson used for the LotR films, as well as the incomparable New Zealand landscape, so it will probably be outstanding. I really hope some discussion of the books gets going here. I think I will pick up my big fat seven-in-one volume this week and jump in.

Celtic Guardian Group: Celtic Nation Posts: 1,176 Joined: 01-Aug-2003 Zodiac: Reed	regarding the order of narnian history and the order of publication i found this intresting link...... http://www.factmonster.com/spot/narnia-books.html my set has "the lion the witch and the wardrobe" as book one..... that is the order i read them.... the magicians nephew being a "flashback" but this link has what cs lewis said (supposedly) and now i find they are being publised in narnian history order..... rather than the publising date....... intresting.......

I just read 'The Magicians Nephew' this week and enjoyed it so much - it has a fair bit of humor that adults will enjoy, or I did anyway. And I had never read the whole book before, but see now that it's a good idea to read it before the 'Wardrobe' one. And with the film coming out soon, I'm glad I read the 'Nephew' book because it explains some things and sets the story in motion.

My favorite book in the series is the Horse and His Boy. If TLTWATW movie is good I hope they will make this book into a movie.
