Actually, I play a Selkie in one of my role-playing groups. I tore the internet apart and all the books I could find for information on them, so I could at least try to give her a decent portrayal. I always have adored them; even when I was little. I've been playing Tavia for a little over a year now. She's easily one of my favorites. I've also done a few short fiction pieces featuring them.
Wow that must be really fun, and interesting! Post your character or something. In what roleplaying book do you play from?
--------------------
"Men at some time are masters of their fate" Jul Caesar, Act i, Sc.2
"When sorrow comes, they come not single spies, but in battalions" Hamlet, Act iv, Sc.5
"All that lives must die, passing through nature to eternity" Hamlet, Act i, Sc.2
I'd be curious to know what game you play too! Back when I played role-playing games (mostly Dungeons and Dragons) I was researching character races for an all-aquatic campaign. I never got very far with it.
Actually, I've played a lot of different game systems over the years. I blame it all on my husband. LOL I cut my teeth on AD&D, through second and third edition, and then started playing the White Wolf system almost exclusively once it came out...how many years ago? Geez. I've also done some free-form, which can also be a lot of fun if you have the right crowd. I like focus on ROLE play, not ROLL play.
But Tavia was created for the White Wolf Werewolf system. I wanted to play a severely underpowered character, and had always loved the Selkies so...I made the Selkie race. I can get into the whole boring detail bit if you'd like, but not until someone says so. It can be dry as sand for the uninitiated.
I actually worked really hard to make them "work" inside the system. But...because compared to something like a Garou or Garahl (bear), they're just this side of helpless, they don't have a whole lot of appeal to a lot of people. I can live with that.
...now to figure out where the heck I stashed those story files...
I don't know about Wizard...but I sure would be interested in knowing the "gritty" details of the character! I am huge into D&D 3rd ed. or 3.5, obsessed out of my obsession of celtic radio , so if there not too dusty or crammed in the filecabnit...it'be neat!
