I haven't really seen any place to post where festivals are taking place so I decided to start one here. As you will see from my post, I am not limiting this to just Irish/Scottish events. I'd like to know what is going on in your world and maybe some day join your party.
What festivals/cons/faires do you like to attend and where? Do they have a website?
Gen Con Indy August every year. I volunteer at the True Dungeon event and dress like a pyrate.
Indianapolis Irish Festival September every year. I like to drink my Guinness and listen to the bands while wearing my kilt.
Rib America Festival September every year. Just a good place to meet friends, eat some ribs and listen to music. I sometimes wear my kilt here too.
Columbus Scottish Festival and Highland Games September every year. Just found out about this one and I'm gonna try to check it out.
Feast of the Hunters' Moon October every year. A neat festival with re-enactments (French and Indian mid 1700's) and vendors.
Mississiewa Battle of 1812 October every year. Just found out about this event also. I'm looking forward to checking it out.
Fishers Renaissance Faire October every year. I've not been able to make this event but it has been growing every year since it started. I'll have to at least stop by someday to see what's going on.
Well, that's all I can think of right now. I'll update it when events come around and I'll try to post pictures after I get so some of these events. But while we wait for me to do these. What's going on in your area?
Cheers!

What a fantastic Scottish Festival!
I just got back (3 hour drive from Henderson, KY) from the Columbus, IN festival. My wife & daughter couldn't make it, so I went alone. Folks were friendly, lots to do, the Highland Games were fun to watch, the entertainment was delightful. The skurl of the pipes everywhere. There was a whiskey tasting seminar that was A+. The weather was perfect. The Ceilidh was a blast with excellent food, country dancing and sing along.
There was an author there, Audrey McClellan, and her books on the western islands are fantasic. I bought her "Westering Home" novel and read the first 4 chapters already. She is a very good writer. Check her works out at:

Festival is still going on tomorrow (eg today - Sunday)! Well worth the trip.

Sycamore Shoals Celt Fest in Elizabethton was great this past weekend. spent both days there listening to great music and getting to see basically all clans represented, it was great to just to get to go up and learn some of the history from that family.
The bands there were great, Thistledown Tinkers and Stirling Bridge were killer, definitely enjoyed hearing Mickle-A-Do for the first time, and Uncle Hamish and the Hooligans were incredible
also tried my first taste of haggis finally!!!! Had never tasted anything like it ever, but the vendor selling it had just placed 5th in the annual haggis tasting in Scotland so I knew it had to be some pretty good stuff. The texture was the hardest thing to get over, but I actually liked it a whole lot. I had the Highland Beef haggis, couldn't force myself to do the lamb lol The wife tried as well but didn't favor as good as i did, she had to chug down a dr. enuf real quick lol.
