My prayers go out to all the military. I have a cousin in the Marines over in Iraq right now, so I'm praying especially for him if it is God's will. I hope that when he comes home, it isn't in a coffin covered by the American flag.

May the Irish hills caress you. May her lakes and rivers bless you. May the luck of the Irish enfold you. May the blessings of Saint Patrick behold you.
Oh Monarch, I am just now getting to read this. I am glad your hubby is ok talk about scary- I will also say a special prayer for our troops..your cousin to Mike..and to your sons Madadh. Keep us posted...
My prayers are added to everyone's. I'm so glad that your hubby is okay, Monarch! I know how awful that waiting is, when you've heard terrible news like that. Tell him, please, that we're praying for all of them there. Same for your cousin Mike, and your daughter and son Madadh!

I echo the above. My prayers - and my thanks - go out to all doing their service in the name of a free world. And special ones for your beloved ones, Monarch, Madadh and Mike.

We have much to be thankful in this great country of ours. And much of it is due to the fine men and women who serve in the armed services. We need to keep it a priority to pray for them on a daily basis. And for their families. It is all that most of us can do. Thanks, Monarch, for bringing it back into focus for us.
How are you doing, Monarch? And you, Madadh, it must be so difficult to have both a son and a daughter in the service at this time. Mike, I too hope that your cousin comes home healthy. I pray that all our husbands, sons, daughters, fathers, mothers, cousins and friends come home soon alive and well.
Just wanted to update everyone. My Son and his unit have come home from Iraq after serving their 1 year tour and a 4 month extension. He served both in Mosul for the year and than in Baghdad for the 4 months. His is in an Infantry unit and fortunately of the 4000 that went over they only lost 26.
Thanks for all of your prayers
May we always remember those that gave their lives so that total strangers could taste Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness
I'm very glad to hear that your son is back home, safe and alive.
No matter if we agree or disagree with this war in Iraq; we honor those who are there in service of their country; we will never forget those who gave their lives as the ultimate prize that could be paid.
Sorry for joining back so late - but glad that this thread got started.
MO - whew!!! I don't think enough people understand that when someone's spouse is in the armed forces, the other spouse is, too! What a releaf - but at the same time, sadness for the families of the lost and wounded.
Glad to hear the other's family members are either back safely of will be coming back soon. I heard from several of our "young people" in church who came back that they wouldn't mind going back to help - I don't think that the American people hear this message - only the one that terrorists and liberal news media care to publish.
In any case, I'll keep on praying for everyone - over there and at home.
Madadh - I am glad to hear that your son and his unit made it back almost complete. For an Infantry Unit to loose "only" so few is a great accomplishment. It shows they are trained well.
But it's also sad news that 26 gave it all. Thoughts and prayers are with them all and their families. I am glad my husband was with an Engineer Unit over there and that he is a cook - so not much action for him in that unit. But this might change soon.
We got orders to Germany - as I mentioned in another thread - and this time he will be joining an artillery unit as cook which means field problems and deployments. But that's the Army life. He still is safer than others since he sits in a Dining Facility and does what he does there best - cook!
