Different Ways, changement of path

Many people, it was my case,did not understand why you start with a pagan path and suddenly skip for another and do it so many times..I realize this week , because my vacation give me lot of time to think, I have change 2or 3 time of path.I have start with wicca,easiest way to get in at the time,being more eclectic for a moment , green withcraft because of my passion for plants,herbalism ... and now I think I'm more in a celtic mood.Before this week I never realize the changement was slow and progressive.I understand when you'r not comfortable with something you change but I never see things like this.I think it's a good thing to realize this it probably mean I have grown since my beginning,having a more open mind , not only saying it.Is there anyone who have try many path in paganism?

I myself didn't. But my friend somehow changed, I believe. She started rather wiccan and now is changing to shamanism. That doesn't mean she doesn't go with what was before, it's rather that there are aspects of different origins that she brings in.
I believe it's not changing like changing from one place to another, it's more like growing, getting new impulses and weaving your own way of being from the different things you've learned so far.
That's what I think about it. But maybe I'm wrong, who knows...

If we as people did not change this world would be a boring place!

The change I see being discussed here is a growing and learning process, there are many phases of paganism and just as many belief systems as there are christian denomonations.

It is the underlying belief that stays constant, the how and why are what change.

To me this sounds more like an evolution and spiritual maturing rather than a true "change of path". Had you converted to Catholocism or something, not THAT would be a change of path.

When I started my journey on Paganism I only had a very rough picture...it took me quite a long time of learning and realisation until my path became visible to me. And then quite another while until I found MY way and home.
It was no change per se, it was a way through different parts or fields of Paganism.

Life is a process and we follow it. We will be learners until our very last breath.

I began my pagan path with people I had met and liked. They followed a Native American tradition. I enjoyed the learning, but I found that because I am not Native American, I was not comfortable with it. I have incorporated many things that I learned there in my spiritual beliefs. Then, I was invited to join an Asatru group. Again, I enjoyed the fellowship, but they were as interested in the social aspects as the main reason for the group. I found that I needed something more spiritual and much more interested in living with and honoring the earth. This time, I knew what I wanted and I found it in Druidry. I am learning a lot and feel very comfortable with the teachings and focus. So, yes, I have changed paths. I have found my home.

I know this might sound sort of weird but I am interested in gaining more knowledge regarding paganism, Wicca, druidism and so forth, though I really don't want to delve so far into it that I'm more of a "scenester", or one that does this to extend their social status or anything. I just want to learn some basics of magick, some simple elements, without getting so far into it that I'm freaking out the neighbors or anything. It's not that I'm ashamed of the pagan or Wiccan ways, I used to go out with a girl who called herself a Christian Wicca, though I never really understood that whole part. In some ways, at this point in my life especially, I'm very confused about religion in general, not wanting to bind myself to something concrete for I find learning to rather invigorating part of life. For the past few years, however, I've been a member of a Christian church and have enjoyed doing so with my wife. Like I've said though I've lately been disenchanted by not only Christianity but organized religion altogether. I like the principles of what I've heard thus far regarding Wiccan and so forth, but I don't believe that Wiccan is where I want to go with my studies, though I'd say it'd be a start. I'm leaning more toward a casual study more than anything, just learning I guess...I guess that's what I need, to sum it up in one sentence. Just some basics.

Sorry to have written an entire paragraph to arrive at such a simple conclusion. I just need help.

Writing an entire paragraph is perfectly correct.Being confused and dissapointed happend to anyone.Before being pagan and start slowly in this,I was catholic.Every christmas with my grandparents and other member of the family we went to the church and when I was young my mother told me how important it was to do a prayer before sleeping.Some events happend and I stop beliving.Later after a period I just start discover paganism.Being dissapointed and confused is just normal at some point.

Some of your statements remind me so very much of the time when I started my spiritual journey, Haldur. I was a soul seeking, struggling with religion and not sure where to go and what to do...
First of all I realised that religion isn't necessarily the same as belief. While religion is generalising, making rules and demands equal for all the members I felt that it is limiting me by that. There were too many things that didn't fit in in the Christian religion and I had no idea how to name them.
Belief is individual. Belief is absolutely personal, just between your Creator and yourself. It's very simple; I think he wants us to believe in the way we are experiencing him and are able to believe then.
It took me long to find my way. I learnt to find it by listening inside.

As Nancy-Raven said, The Grove is for all kinds of Paganism...we are here to learn from each other, each one has to teach a lot; feel free to ask any question you may think of. There are no stupid questions...keep writing paragraphs as often as you want.

As Guide of this forum I have to echo that the "GROVE" is open to all, either those just interested in what it is all about or those who are out of the closet pagans.... all are welcome to post .

What a great topic! All of life, not just spirituality, is a type of evolutionary process for me. My love of learning has led to educating myself about many forms of earth-based spirituality & my respect for all forms of belief systems grows daily. I incorporate what "feels" right & appropriate for me at any given time; I gravitate toward that which I need to learn something from, garner my lesson, & continue my journey. I've been following this path for nearly 40 years now & the wonder of it all continually amazes me. While different, I've found all paths lead to the same destination (generally) & those fortunate enough to strive for enlightenment, regardless of faith or path, are the most wonderful bridges between us all.

One doesn't need to freak out neighbors to become enlightened to another spiritual path.... unless, of course, the neighbors need a little shaking up ! Reading is a great start, especially those books geared toward historical/informational formats. There's much cr out there, so being mindful of those whose interests lay in the dollar is essential.

I've been through three: Wicca, heithinn and celtic/brythonic. I started in Wicca because I was told it was the only real pagan/witchcraft path - I sooned learned this wasn't true.

I spent many years (mistakenly) as a heathen, before I realised I was dealing with a completely different set of gods. Not my fault! They never told me their names.
