| Another Helen Steiner Rice Poem in honour of our Dads DADS are special people no home should be without, For every family will agree they're "SO NICE TO HAVE ABOUT"... They are a happy mixture of a "SMALL BOY" and a "MAN" And they're very necessary in every "FAMILY PLAN"... Sometimes they're most demanding and stern, and firm and tough, But underneath they're "soft as silk" for this is just a "BLUFF"... But in any kind of trouble Dad reaches out his hand, And you can always count on him to help and understand... And while we do not praise Dad as often as we should, We love him and admire him, and while that's understood, It's only fair to emphasize his importance and his worth... For if there were no loving Dads, this would be a "LOVELESS EARTH"! |

I have no poem to post about my Dad but let me describe him to you. To begin he was my Step-Father and a damn good one. He was not perfect but as he oftened said "He was the closest damn thing to it" He stood 5' 6" and in his youth would have put Schwartzenegger to shame. He was also a handsome man and to say intelligent would be an understatement. He was perhaps the most intelligent person I have ever met and believe me I have met a lot of smart people. He was egotistical almost with a Napoleonic Complex. He lived life his way and if that was a problem then tough.He spoke with a slight English accent, being educated in Chelmsford. He was born on a farm outside Campbellford Ontario and was Canadian to the core. He fought in WW II in the British 4th Commandoes and was taken prisoner in June of 41 on the island of Crete in the Med. He married my Mom in 46 and brought us to Canada in 47. As I said he was a good step-dad but he had his faults mainly he was a Womanizer and Adulterer for which I never forgave Him as it caused my Mom a lot of pain. For all his faults and foibles though I loved the man and miss him something awful. The best way to describe Him is 'HE WAS A MACARTHUR' Camac. |

| Thanks Leelee for sharing that wonderful poem about Dads. I wish my Dad would understand the english language so that I could read it to him. Although I wrote one for him on his last birthday and he keeps it on his desk in his bedroom all the time. Camac, yes we tend sometimes to put our parents on pedastals but they are humans and thus with imperfections. But we do love them the way they are with faults and all. Thanks for sharing your love for your dad it is really moving. LOA |
