Celtic Radio Community > Celtic Radio > Festival & Concert Calendar In The Works!

Posted by: Macfive 24-Sep-2003, 07:39 AM
Work is progressing on completing our Festival & Concert Calendar for CelticRadio.net. A major component of this calendar is the conversion of nearly 500 festival dates from across the world. Once completed, a preview of the next 10 days of calendar entries will appear on our frontpage along with a small calendar for the current month. We will be providing a calendar entry form that members can post dates of festivals along with a search function. Eventually this data will tie into our musician database. Look for the first features of this project to be released within a few days!

As fast as you're building it and the ideas and innovations that are being put forth, Mac, I can't waut to see the site 6 months from now. biggrin.gif thumbs_up.gif

The first part of our community festival calender is completed. We have loaded 472 festival dates world wide. To type all of this data in would have taken probably a month for one person. But thanks to a wonderful server side scripting language called PHP, it only took less than a millisecond! Of course, it took me a few hours to make the program.

We do need to work on the Calendar view as there are many festivals on one date. We need just a preview so it does not scroll the calendar out of proportion. We also need to work on our frontpage 5 day preview section for the calendar.

We do have the ability to load up more dates, whether they are celtic dates, holiday dates, or concert dates. Just send me your list if you have one and we can use the same program to load them in the calender.

Once I fix the look of the calender I am going to work on a new webpage for members and musicians to submit events.

I hope that people find this useful in alerting them of Celtic Festivals in their area.

I think that this will be one of the best features. I live in an area where there is zero to nil advertising for any games or Celtic events. thumbs_up.gif beer_mug.gif
