Threads of Continuity
In this time, In these hands, Drafts out the fibres, Twists up the strands.
In a distant time, In ancestral hands, Twirled the spindle, Let out the spans.
Those ancient ones, Began the lines, Spun long the yarns, of lore and times.
Each young daughter, Took up the tools, Twisting tangled tufts, Into ordered wools.
With warp and woof, The sturdy wife, Wove up the cloth, Of a common life.
And when the plaid, Was worn and rent, It shrouded the elder, Her time now spent.
The continuim unbroken, Through ages and eons, I take up the task, Until the next generation.
