hi... Ivy was born early monday (04-16-07) morning... since then she has developed Group B Strep... a sometimes fatal bactirial infection she is in intesive care with way to many tubes coming out of her. they are also testing her for Down syndrome... if there are any prayer warriors out there i would appreciate your prayers for her and her mother especially....
Oh, dundee! How frightening to see a helpless little one in intensive care. But the God who formed her, has known her from her first moment of being is with her now, cradling her in His loving arms. He is holding her, her mother, her father, her grandparents and all those who are so worried at this time.
Prayers are with you. Be strong. All will be well.

Compassion is the sometimes fatal capacity for feeling what it is like inside somebody else's skin. It is the knowledge that there can never really be any peace and joy for me until there is peace and joy finally for you too. - Frederick Buechner
If society prospers at the expense of the intangibles, how can it be called progress?
the tests indicate that Ivy does in indeed have Down Syndrome. and as a result of Down's, she does not have a lot of muscle strength. Her lungs are fully developed and strong but her diaphragm and muscles around the rib cage are not strong enough for her to take real good deep breaths. So for now, she needs assistance until she gets a bit stronger.
although this is not great news concerning Ivy, I chose to celebrate her life not her infirmities… if it had been what they first suspected (group B strep) it could have been fatal.....keep praying please for my wife and my other daughter who seem to be taking it rough… as I will be riding with them on Saturday two hours to visit Ivy.
and thanks for your support.... ( i feel like the "bartels and james" guys *L*)
seriously though thanks for your prayers... i kind of need someone.

I celebrate with you, Dundee, that Ivy will live. We have had some in our extended family with Down's Syndrome children. There is no way to hide from the fact that it is difficult, but what a blessing many of these children have been. May God enable you and your dear family through His wonderful grace to go through this challenge. You can be assured that a number of folks are and will continue to pray.
May little Ivy's life touch the lives and heart of many! Take care, my friend.
Jean-Thomas is with Ivy as are many of his friends. They watch over her and keep her. She is never alone. I have met and worked with many downs children. They have very special spirits. Dale Evans wrote a book I read many years ago called ANGEL UNAWARES about her daughter who had downs and the great blessings she gave them. There are many blessings this little girl brings to you and your family. Love her and cherish these great blessings. Her earth mission may be short or it may be long. She will have many struggles but will also bring you all great joy. She will grow and learn and teach all who are willing to take time with her. You have a precious gift. Father has chosen to send your family one of His special angel children. Cherish her always. May she walk all her life with the angels, always hearing Heaven's music and be able to share these things with you all. RebeccaAnn
I will pray for acceptance for the women in your life, especially those you have to ride two hours in a car with.
Ah, dundee, even in the midst of fearful situations, you still keep your ornery disposition.
I remember that book Rebecca Ann. It was good to read. A couple of years back, I proofed a book written by one of our memebers about raising his daughter who has Cerbral Palsy. She was a blessing to him from the moment of her birth.
Elsbeth Did the book get published? What is it called? I too was born with cp and life can be a great challenge. We have many mountains to climb but it is worth the journey. Ivy will bring great joy to her family. She is a very wonderful and strong spirit. I know some of what Ivy's family faces in the future with many challenges and uphill battles and many joys. I am not just a handicapped child but also a mother of some special children and an angel and have been a teacher to others. With a special child you learn very quickly to rejoice in every step up no matter how small. With all children each step up he makes is important and special but some how it is different with a handicapped child. Maybe it is because many of our steps are smaller and it takes longer for us to get up the small hill. Ivy is a blessing to her family and all of us here. RebeccaAnn
