Maureen O'Hara was one of the most gracious and lovely women to ever be in film. Her passing is a loss to everyone who loved quality film. She was a true patriot honoring both the USA and her native Ireland, a lady both countries can be very proud of. My prayers for her and her family and her fans everywhere. Thank you for being part of our lives. |

The Claytor Family lived in Scotland and some settled in Ireland. It was the Irish line of the family that moved to the US. I am trying to possibly locate a tartan that may have been part of the family's history. I have found the Claytor name in a number of locations in England, Scotland and Ireland. These locations mesh with the oral family histories. If anyone has a clue as to where I can find what I am looking for, please let me know |

Looking for information on the involvement of the Claytors in the Battle of Hastings. Seems they were awarded lands for their assistance in the battle. |

Orla's "Celtic Christmas" is well done, and great to listen too, even if its not Christmas. The DVD for the CD is exceptional, featuring in addition to Orla, David Archuleta, Meav (of Celtic Woman fame), Mark Wills and Anuna. These is also another CD of Christmas music by Orla "Winter, Fire & Snow", different songs, and a great addition to her "Celtic Christmas" CD. Check both out, they are Orla, and great as always!

That's great to hear. They are from the same producers that gave us Celtic Woman, and they have performed with them a few times. Most of the group is made of of the sons of some of the older more famous Irish Singers.
They do give a great show, I saw them in Baltimore when they were here back in 2008. I'm looking forward to the new CD and hope they do have a DVD to go with it.

I just finished reading that St. Patrick's color was really blue, a shade refered to as St. Patrick's Blue. The green came about from the green of the land and came into common use in the late 1800's. Anyone having additional information let us know.

I took my daughter and two of my granddaughters to their concert in Baltimore, back in November. One granddaughter was 12 and the other 10. I’m not sure which one of the three enjoyed the concert more, but in addition to the great show, I totally enjoyed watching my daughter and granddaughters have the time of their lives.
I think the older granddaughter has every photo she could find of Damien, in her Celtic Thunder Scrap Book. They have also just about worn out the DVD and two CDs from the amount of times they have played them.

What ever happened to "Freedom of Speech"? It seems if only works for the left, anyone else doesn't have the right to disagree. What are they afraid of the? The truth??

Thank you for your Christmas Programing. It was a wonderful mix of the popular, with music we may have never heard by lesser known artists. I will admit I did drive my workmates a bit over the edge with it playing all the time on my office computer. A great job as always.

WallaceGal:
Michigan has been hit very hard in so many areas, other manufacturing states have been hit hard as well. The Canadian auto industry which is tied with the US auto industry is getting hit also. Charities are coming up short this year, due to the poor economic picture. Many food banks are empty. More people are needing help and there is less available for them. We can only hope and pray things will change soon.
But, when you reflect on what is happening, maybe, it's time for all of us to get back to the true meaning of Hanukkah and Christmas. Peace and Goodwill toward our fellow man. Remember to drop what you can into the collection plate or the Red Kettles as you pass. A dime, a quarter, a dollar bill, adds up to help for someone who needs it, be it Hanukkah, Christmas or during the rest of the year.
Just the musings of an old man.

“Nollaig Shona agus Athbhliain faoi Mhaise Duit.”
I would like, a new CD or two for my Celtic Music Collection, or a Shillelagh to replace the one that belonged to my grandfather (he was of German/English decent, still trying to figure the connection) that was lost in moving.
Most most of all, I would love to see our economy recovering and everyone back to work. That is something we can all pray and wish for.

Just as in English, the two expressions are often combined to say “Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year” as follows:
“Nollaig Shona agus Athbhliain faoi Mhaise Duit.” (NO-lihg HO-nuh AH-guhs AH-vlee-ihn fwee WAH-shuh wich).

And Al Gore is a major stock holder in the company trading "Carbon Credits". His family money came from big oil. Hmmm... his hand in both pots?
Like P.T. Barnum said ' There is a sucker born every minute." And the fear mongers are following that to the letter.
I can agree with using alternate energy, with the purpose of limiting pollution and the money going to countries that "dance in the streets" when a disaster falls opon us.
