On the Rideau Canal South of "Old BY Town" (Ottawa) Sits the village of Manotik Just down the road On the canals' east shore Is a landing called Kellys' by name On a fair summers day Three strangers Gathered there to meet For a first time lunch. Of the three that Met, two were Young and the third "A Crusty Old Dud". They sat and they talked And ate of their fare Fish and Chips all around A couple of beers and Some wine for the young And a Pepsi washed the Thirds' lunch down. The young from Quebec And the old from Toronto Were as different As could be, but They laughted and Talked of all Manner of things As their Frienship Grew to be. The Crusty Old Dud And the two young folk Parted later that day And the Old Man Stood with a tear In his eye as he Watched them drive away. He turned to leave With a lump in his throat Knowing not what The future would bare But he knew in His Heart that two Friends he had made And for that he Was richer by far
