On the Rideau Canal
South of "Old BY Town" (Ottawa)
Sits the village of Manotik
Just down the road
On the canals' east shore
Is a landing called
Kellys' by name
On a fair summers day
Three strangers
Gathered there to meet
For a first time lunch.
Of the three that
Met, two were
Young and the third
"A Crusty Old Dud".
They sat and they talked
And ate of their fare
Fish and Chips all around
A couple of beers and
Some wine for the young
And a Pepsi washed the
Thirds' lunch down.
The young from Quebec
And the old from Toronto
Were as different
As could be, but
They laughted and
Talked of all
Manner of things
As their Frienship
Grew to be.
The Crusty Old Dud
And the two young folk
Parted later that day
And the Old Man
Stood with a tear
In his eye as he
Watched them drive away.
He turned to leave
With a lump in his throat
Knowing not what
The future would bare
But he knew in
His Heart that two
Friends he had made
And for that he
Was richer by far

My dear friend what a beautiful poem in remembrance of our get together.
We will never forget this special afternoon thanks to your invitation and we are glad that you enjoyed our company as well.
And you can be sure my friend as God is my witness that we will meet again soon.
Glad to know that you count us as friends as we do you.

Thank you for the lovely poem that I will have husband read as well.
