How is it that NBC, which was showing the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade live, managed to cut to video of M&M ballon from last year after this years ballon crashed into a light pole and knocked debris on to the spectators below, injuring two people? Yet during all of this, the crack morning "news" staff, Katie Couric and Matt Lauer, along with America's favorite weatherman, Al Roker, were live on site and didn't say a thing (at the same time CNN, FoxNews, and even MSNBC were reporting on the incident).
Can any of these Networks truly be trusted to report the News?

May those who love us love us And those who don't love us May God turn their hearts, And if He doesn't turn their hearts, May He turn their ankles, So we'll know them by their limping.
They were reporting a parade, not the news. When it happens at a circus, they send in the clowns and maintain equilibrium until they can assess the problem. The incident has been more than adequately reported since, nobody is trying to cover up anything, and the parade went on, both on site and on TV, without a load of confusion, disruption, rubbernecking and panic. If CNN and Fox put on their usual carrion-fowl performance, that is only to be expected but not really commended.
