Listen to 'Irish Makeover' and a makeover is exactly what you get. It's not your Granny's music anymore! Timeless Irish Classics have been given a fresh appeal reaching out to new listeners across borders, time zones, and electronic pathways. Digital Irish sounds refresh the baton which has been passed down for generations. Celtic music is suddenly modern and COOL. Everybody loves it. The man behind the music is a modern marvel - some say a genius.
How very true! Skully takes old Irish Folksongs, and give them that magical touch to make them his own. I love the old favorites like Molly Malone, Red Is The Rose, Blackbird and King of the Fairies. Anyone who hasn't heard IRISH MAKEOVER yet is really missing out.
Skully’s “Irish Makeover” is a big hit in South Easton, Massachusetts, USA!
This album has something to please everyone. Kate Murphy’s harmonizing vocals along with Skully’s masterful work make “Blackbird” evocatively passionate. I really enjoy the sound effects in “Molly Malone”, from the wheel barrow rolling across the cobblestone road, to her coins being dropped in her cloth hand bag, to the whistles from the grand cockles! Skully’s instrumental “Mardyke” is upbeat and catchy. Every time you listen to a Skully creation you hear a new instrumental effect that you missed on the prior listens.
It’s NOT likely that you will tire of Skully’s music.
Even in Austria Skully`s Musik radiates Joy! With his Talent for an excellent Sound he transformed beautiful old classic irish Songs in truly "Ear Candies". Thank`s for the Info over My Space that the Album Irish Makeover is broadcast here on Celtic Radio! Gladly, Ulrike
That is so awesome, you should check out the other things he's done with Metisse, Without a Voice, in fact, go to his myspace account, you won't be sorry...Molly Malone made #1 on CelticRadio's top 10 List today...I am so very Happy for Skully! darlene
Irish Makeover's music is part of my day - everyday!
Music created by Skully is a very pleasant link between the past, the present, and the future. Tracks on his Irish Makeover CD have a way of reaching those memories, in an old Irish soul, that might have been forgotten for a few hundred years.
They don't call Skully the "Professor" for nothing!! The man is a musical genius!! His creativity knows no bounds. You will never find a more humble & gracious man as Skully. You feel his love and caring in all of his music, whether it be Irish Makeover, his instrumental album Without A Voice, or with Metisse.
Irishatheart; Yes, there are not enough words to decribe what a great-talented man Skully is, he's truly gentle, loving, talented, and a gorgeous man, please check Skully out at the links provided, you won't be sorry. Like I stated in the beginning post, his music takes you to another totally different world, where there are no problems, such as starvation, drought, natural disasters, affordable housing, employment and all those things life throws at you. please check him out and you too will take a fantastic trip into Skully's world! darlene
Ever listened to a CD and loved every song on it?! It's rare to find such a CD. IRISH MAKEOVER is it! It leaves you with wanting more after the last song is finished. Skully's own words on the CD album say it all:" I wanted to take these beautiful old Irish songs and push them as far into the twenty first century as I could without altering their beauty or the emotion they evoke." Close your eyes and you can imagine "Molly Malone" pushing her wheelbarrow through the streets of Dublin. Fly with "The Lark" and the "Blackbird", but don't forget to visit "Scarborough Fair"! The amazing voices of Myles O'Reily, Mick Flannery, Kate Murphy and Anette Buckley will be your "tour guides" on this journey of old Irish traditional songs into the 21st century. Karl Nesbitt provides just the right touch with his Bazouki and low Whistle.
mcnberry; you couldn't have said it any better, have you had an chance to listen to the other CD's; Without a Voice and Metisse? If not, you are in for a treat, enjoy! darlene
Hello Darlene! Thank you for your nice reply! You know what's so nice about all of Skully's music? It appeals to all sorts of people. Just take a look at his Myspace pages and the comments people are leaving. No matter what gender, age and ethnicity, Skully's music is well loved by all. Take for example the guy who has listed all Heavy Metal groups known to men on his profile. Who interrupts the flow of things? Right there, next to Metallica, Skully's "Without A Voice"! The Teenager, not yet quite sure if he is Emo or Goth, and obviously dealing with some serious Angst issues, has Skully's "Metisse" on his top ten friends list and admits to also listening to "Irish Makeover". Skully's rendition of the Horslips song Trouble is ingenious! My Waltz With Matilda, It Rained That Morning and Arduity Sails By will always let me escape to imaginary places away from the hustle and bustle of my everyday life. Shirin gave great comfort to one of my patients while she was taking her last breaths. Sousounde has become one of my favorite songs to dance to. So, yes Darlene, I have and will be in for a treat! Anything this multi talented artist touches is a treat for anyone who is looking for something special and different! To BlueGeoduck, I am sorry if I just did a lot of "bumping", but maybe we can discuss Vinyl versus Compact Disk next time?
