| Sup all. Lately I've been getting interested in learning Irish Gaelic. I don't know too much about the language or it's history or, anything.  I was wondering if anyone knew any good books with tapes or other audios for pronunciation and so on. I would really appreciate it. Thanks.  |

| As for Irish Gaelic, I've yet to find anything (at least in hardcopy) specific to it. However, I've got a copy of a textbook from the 'Teach Yourself' series; 'Teach Yourself: Gaelic' Which coveres Scottish Gaelic and includes cassettes to go with it. That's wat I'm using to try and learn this wonderful language. |

| There is a volume of Teach Yourself Irish Gaelic. not easy to find (at least I had trouble finding it about 10 years ago). I found it a bit tough to follow, but I may have passed my language learning prime, after studying Italian, Spanish, French German and sign.......adding one more just overloaded my brain! |

| Hippocrene Books has a book on Irish Gaelic-English Dictionary and comes in paperback and sells for around $9.00 They also sell Scottish Gaelic-English and Scottish (Doric)Gaelic -English Dictionary for a little more...they these don't help..they should be able to direct you to more helpful info... | This is all great information and I'm enjoying it. I wonder tho, if there's any kind of cyber class (on line course) that is available? If not, I wonder then if there's anyone around here that knows it and cares to share that knowledge with us in a kind of cyber class (via chat, I'm guessing). Granted, it's not the same if you can't hear it being spoken, but I do my damndest to make up for that on my own if I could just pick up the jist of the language. Comments any one? Rogue |

The site http://www.irishgaelictranslator.com/ includes a forum for asking for specific translations and a section with links to the words and phrases being spoken. Being able to HEAR the phrase really helps. |
