These three come to my mind right away-
Dropkick Murphy's
Flogging Molly
The Real McKenzies
Not sure about any from Sweden.

Norway has the excellent Greenland Whalefishers.I reccomend trying their CD "Loboville" first. Also,a group that's usually overlooked but have been around longer than Dropkick or Flogging Molly, and for my money are better musically, are Chicago's own,The Tossers.

Welcome to Celtic Radio Verdandi. There's so many talented punk bands. A few I can think to add to the list are:

Pogues
Finns Fury
The Gobshites
Flat Foot 56
Blood or Whiskey
The Mahones
Fiddlers Green

I look forward to you posting here on the forums. Be sure to listen to Celtic Rock Radio. thumbs_up.gif

I failed to mention The Pogues.I just assumed everyone knew who they were, since they pretty much started the genre.Almost every band i'm friends with on myspace lists them as an influence.Love The Mahones too.Finny McConnell is an excellent writer of songs.

Almost forgot about Black 47 too. Although I'm not sure if punk would quite descibe them. Maybe irish/punk/ska

I'd also include Young Dubliners and a Chicago-based band called The Tossers.

Farler's Fury from Quebec. I saw them a few months back when they were backing up the punk legends, "The Vibrators". Check them out on MySpace at http://www.myspace.com/farlersfury.

I second the motion on the Mahones. They are out of Kingston, Ontario and have been playing for a hell of a long time. The Pogues!!!! Another classic. Shane McGowan was a mainstay in the crowds of the early punk scene. You see his ugly mug often in the documentaries of early Clash and Sex Pistols performances.

Good list so far, not a lot to add except a few notable songs.
Seven Nations, IMO, was moving that way especially on "Thanks for Waiting"
Some Enter The Haggis, notably "Litter and the Leaves" from "Gutter Anthems" has definite punk undercurrents.

I have to clarify that I wouldn't classify either group as being Celtic Punk per se. Just listing a few individual songs that may fit into that genre.
