I just encountered something weird. Last night (Jan. 15, '07). I made a few posts to a couple of threads here on CR.net. I even noticed it listed my posts as the "Last Post". Well as of this morning, none of my posts are there, including my birthday wishes to Carolina Scotsman and Lady of the Loch.

Weird, really weird!

QUOTE (Keltic @ 14-Jan-2007, 10:02 PM)
Hi all from the northern tropic of Canada!!! Usually at this time of year my barbecue is so deep in snow, the grill is at my knees which makes it uncomfortable to cook with but when you need a steak, you need a steak!!!! Anyways, this year, no snow, above freezing which in Canada means t-shirts and road hockey. I've seen people out on their Harley's and there was a picture in the newspaper of someone waterskiing in the Ottawa River last weekend.

I was hoping to have my new line of jewellery out before Christmas but I have been fighting with the company hosting my website so it's been rough going for the last couple of months. We found out that a lot of e-mail was not getting through to us and we don't know how long this has been going on. Anyways, I have been a wee bit stressed and unable to concentrate on carving. I am moving our site to a new host soon and after a much needed break around Christmas, I am back to work and hope to have my new pieces done soon.

Speaking of snakes, that's what we got our six year old for Christmas!!! He has a pet baby cornsnake!! Now our house is home to a hedgehog, two leopard geckoes and a cornsnake (oh yeah...and four children).

Anyways, Happy New Year to everyone!!!!

Don't you mean four rug rats? biggrin.gif laugh.gif

It's been cold here in Chicago too, but very little snow. Had some flurries yesterday but it's almost all melted now. Ran into a few slick spots on the roads but didn't panic.

Keltic, don't you have a George Foreman grill? I got one for Christmas a year ago and I love it. I wanted one because I wanted to be able to do steaks, burgers, brats, etc. I have an apartment, I don't have a balcony or patio and I'm pretty sure using a real grill indoors is not allowed in my lease, so that's the only way I can grill. I use "George" so much, I don't even put it away anymore.

Hi everyone. I hope all of you are doing well. It has been awhile since I have posted, but I have looked in and have tried to keep up with all of you.

I have been busy. Not with work this time. But with getting ready to file my taxes and doing some cleaning.

All is well with my family. Old man winter has raised his head and it is cold. There might be a little frozen stuff tonight. Not snow, but sleet. YUK!!

Well I have to get back to my project.

Take care and stay warm.

That sounds like us! At one time we had a dog, a cat, 2 snakes, 2 bearded dragons , a hermit crab, a guinea pig and fish! Along with my 3 kids (ages 6,8 and 38 wink.gif ) it was a full house. We are finally down to 2 cats, a dog, 1 snake at home (3 in hubbys classroom at school), guinea pig and fish. Not so bad any more. Oh I still have my daughters and husband, too. biggrin.gif

Hey all! Good to read what each and every one of you are up to!

JP! Very wierd indeed about your posts. I can't explain that one! unsure.gif hope yer doing well otherwise.

Keltic! Great to hear from you! Sounds like you are having some lovely weather up there in beautiful Canda. Several of us were talking about the Fergus games this year and was planning to go, but little by little we're having to back out due to other committments. One day I will get up there. I heard they made a lot of changes to the festival as well. Hope you get your website worked out with your fabulous jewelry.

Ladyof the loch, hope you had a terrific birthday.

Gwenlee. I always hated that ice when living back there where you do. Hope you get some reprieve from it. How's your daughter doing? Sounds like you are keeping busy and well.

Val, thanks so much for the glucosimine chrondroitin info. I have one dog on some stuff from the vet, but I probably should get this instead and then able to give it to both dogs.

Stormeil! You post made me laugh! Poor you! Hope things are better now. wink.gif

Hi Mike, I always think of you when I watch Oprah and all the things going on in the Chicago area. Wonder if you ever see her or other celebrities. Not that I am big Oprah fan, but I like to watch her show from time to time, especially when she had Bono on. Now that I wanted to know if you saw! wub.gif

Not been the best week for me. We got hit with credit card fraud and some one from the Netherlands is enjoying a rather digusting porn site at our expense right now. <_ We know it came from the pc, so taking even more security measures than usual now. Been spending my life on the phone with the bank has not been fun, but luckily we have been with them for years and years. Then Tuesday, we are having very cold temps with very high temps where I live and I stopped to get gas. When I went to get out, the wind took my driver's side door away from me and bang it against the brick pillar next to the gas pump...OUCH! It is only a 3x1 inch piece of damage, but enough to cost us $500! sad.gif What makes me sick is that I have never been in a car accident in my life, never any damage to any other vehicle I have ever driving. After 12 years, we finally buy a brand new Honda six months ago and this happens! I know, I know. It could have been a lot worse, but $500 is really going to hurt me right now and then the stupidity of it all that I was not more careful. I keep beating myself up over it all though. It is so much more easy for me to forgive others than myself.

Well hello to ballydun, sisterknight, kriete and anyone else I may have missed. Y'all take care and be safe.

Hello everyone!!!

I'm here at the local public library, perusing the help wanted websites and I decided to say hi to you fine folks!

Everything is okay, if freezing cold, here in Chicago. I've actually been brave enough to go out for a walk the past few nights. Of course, I wear several layers of clothing.

I heard they got snow in LA yesterday. For those of you who live in warmer climates, when we here in the northern areas see you guys on CNN fishtailing down the road due to unexpected snowfall, remember we're not laughing with you, we're laughing at you biggrin.gif .

I'm excited that my Bears are now one win away from the Super Bowl. I just hope that "Good" Rex (Grossman, our QB) shows up rather than "Bad" Rex.

Hello All!!! Hope everyone is well.

I am so ready for spring. We have had mild winters for so long and now we are really having one. Supposed to get more snow and ice this weekend. : My cure for driving in it is to not drive unless absolutely necessary. Then I usually make everyone mad at me because I drive slow.

CR, The glucosamine has really helped Cody. He is missing a back leg and the hips are really put under a strain, but the glucosamine has helped. Sorry to hear about your car door. We have so much wind here that my husband has drilled into my head to hang onto the door.

Everyone have a good day.

Winter has finally arrived here too. This morning there was a two car accident just over a mile from my house. Both cars were banged up pretty good and in the ditch.

Hey all,

I think I spoke too soon about the Canadian tropics. That night we got dumped on with snow and hit a temperature of -31 C (approximately -24 F)...not exactly tropical weather. The good news is that the worlds longest skating rink, the Rideau Canal, might be opened for business before our winter carnival starts.

Mike,

My parents love their George Foreman grill but I don't think that they make one large enough for a family of six. Some days, it's like feeding a family of twelve around here with two of our children getting older. We could get a number of grills lined up beside one another but it is so un-Canadian not griping about the weather from time to time. There are three things that are inherently Canadian... Beer, hockey and complaining about the weather like we've never seen cold before!!!

Sisterknight,

That pub idea works too but the kids would get jealous if my wife and I went out too often and left them to their peanut butter and jam sandwiches. They do like PB& J sandwiches but they all really enjoy steak (even our three year old). Back in the 20th century BC (before children), I used to live at the local pub and actually ran the pool tournament there for free beer!! I also competed in darts tourneys all the time. Back then, pool and darts were winter sports and chicken wings were given away.

Ballydun,

I do have another aquarium just waiting for some critter to call it home. Your menagerie was definitely larger than ours but we're not done yet!!!

CR,

I don't think we'll be doing Fergus again this year. As much as we enjoy those games, my wife and I think that we are going to concentrate on getting into the US festival circuit. We are setting our sites on The Celtic Classic and the Milwaukee Irish Fest right now. I just have to finalize all of the new designs which should have been done a couple of months ago but battling all other areas of business pulled me away from what I enjoy doing. We will need a number of new designs to warrant travelling the distance to Milwaukee but Bethlehem, PA is really not that far a drive for us.

Here I am talking about getting the new designs done and at 2:50 in the afternoon on a Friday, guess where I'm not.... I'm not at the workbench. I must have spent too many years as a government worker. I've been out of the government for 5 1/2 years now so I guess old habits do die hard!!!

Now I'm feeling guilty...back to carving. Talk to everyone later.

Brrr. Its been downright cold up here in the U.P. Snow then sun then the more snow. Temps have been between 0 and 20. Skiers and Snowmobilers have descended on the area since there isn't enough snow any where else so I've got bubbleheads rwaacnig by my place when the bars close in Hurley. Christmas was okay. I only have my wife's birthday present (irish cloak) to pay off and then its back to putting extra money on bills. Couple layoffs at my workplace today but only for a week and luckily I wasn't one of them. Either way I'm trying for a new job as a bookstore manager so send lots of prayers and well wishes my way. Hope it warms up soon.
