Hey, Matt, you and I have a lot of the same tastes LeCrae is one of my fav's. You're just a couple years older than my middle daughter and she loves the fact that the old lady is so cool with her music. In fact, she yells at me to turn Disciple down, cuz, really, you have to listen to them cranked, right?!
If you look at my Facebook music tastes, you'll see it runs the gamut--from Christian rap/hard rock to country. I love EVERYTHING (except most opera...just can't get into it, although I do have an appreciation for the talent involved). But my two overwhelming loves are Celtic and country |

I haven't been having any problems, but I have to put my two cents in here and recommend Mozilla Firefox. Much better browser than IE. They update often so the bugs are few and far between.

I agree. I love CT, but a lot of their songs (especially with the new show) have nothing at all to do with Celtic music. Maybe they should change their name to "Thunder"  |

Yeah, I'm still lurking also. Been very busy working on my 2nd book (writing, not reading HAHA). Oh, and the day job too. That keeps me chained for 8 hours. Then there is Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest. Can't forget about those time suckers |

My local Scottish society is crashing the Irish society's party! It's actually a potluck and cash bar, so I guess it's not really crashing if you bring food and pay for your booze, right?

It is familiar...perhaps a Loreena McKennitt song? I can almost hear bagpipes playing it in my head, though. Hmmm.
I would look into Loreena's music and see if you can find it there, and I'll keep my "ears open" since I listen to Celtic music all day and if I hear it, I'll be sure and let you know! |

Happy birthday!!!!
And I'm right behind you. Just turned 48 a few weeks ago. I get you on the glasses thing. I just say that my arms have gotten too short. My 11-year-old has become my eyes quite often. Of course, after that she thinks it's fun to lead "the old lady" around.
My new motto: I'm too damn old to feel this damn young (forgive the language...stole it from Garth Brooks and turned it around ) People are always a bit shocked when they find out how "old" I am--but I don't think it's my looks that shocks them, but my immaturity The older I get, the younger I feel. Funny thing, that.
My advice: Enjoy it! Aging is mandatory, but growing up is optional!

Okay, here we go:
For pipes/drums: Albannach, MacTalla Mor, Clannad, Saor Patrol, Clann An Drumma.

For a more Irish type (even though many of these artists are US or Canada based): Lisa Kelly, Burning Bridget Cleary, The Gothard Sisters, Archie Fischer, Wild Thyme, Deirdre Shannon, The Sandcarvers.
For flat-out fun: Captain Tractor, Tartan Terrors, Ceann, Ed Miller.
Paddy Punk: Flatfoot 56, Mr. Irish Bastard, Lexington Field, The Mahones, Dropkick Murphys, The Tossers, The Bloody Irish Boys, Amadán (old school: The Pogues and The Skids)

If you want to learn Irish, Rosetta Stone has it. Buggers don't have Scots Gàidhlig though  But, there are some free places to learn it. As mad as I am at them right now (unfair reporting since Alex Salmond took office!), BBC Alba has basic Gàidhlig lessons. It's geared toward kids, but hey, when we're just learning, whatever works, aye?

Oh, I could give you TONS of suggestions, but need to know what sub-genre you prefer. It sounds like trad (traditional)?? There are so many sub-genres in Celtic music that you can never get tired of it! |
