Background: It is from those Anglo-Saxon tribes that once ruled over Britain that the name Ayon was formed. The name derived from the baptismal name for Haine. First found in Lincolnshire where they were seated from very ancient times, some say well before the Norman Conquest and the arrival of Duke William at Hastings in 1066 A.D.

Variations: Haines, Hains, Hain, Haine, Haynes, Hainson
