Here's a list of US presidents from a Welsh Heritage

George Washington (Welsh Grandparents)
Abraham Lincoln (Welsh Maternal Grandparents)
John Adams (Welsh Grandmother)
John Quincy Adams (Welsh Descent)
Thomas Jefferson (Family from Snowdonia and spoke Welsh)

see also...

Samuel Adams
Signer of the American Declaration of Independance and co-founder of Harvard University.
Jefferson Davies
President of the american confederacy
Robert E Lee
Commander of the Confederate armies.

There were supposed 16 Welsh signatories to the Declaration of Independance, anyone know who the others were?

Hi Welsh Guy,
One of the signers, Frances Lewis was born in Llandaff, Wales on March 21, 1713. Others signers who had Welsh connections were-William Floyd, Georger Read and Button Gwinnett. This is all I could come up with.  Maybe someone else can take over where I left off.  A nice little history lesson. :D

Macfive, I learned today that John Adams and John Hancock were born in your neck-of-the-woods.   :)D

Wow! That is an impressive list of Welsh descended American presidents!

Thanks for sharing that. I would have never known. I think Welsh Heritage needs to be promoted more and I am glad that we have something here on the board.

It just so happen that I live probably 2 miles from the house that John Quincy Adams was born at. I drive by it atleast a few times a month! Surrounded by modern buildings and street corners, its a shame they didn't save a good portion of the land around this historic landmark.
