So I was just wondering what kind of pets everyone has?

I have a Dachshund, Pretzel, and a miniature Dachshund, Littles, (both girls), a Pomeranian, Joey, (male), and one who is a mix of pretty much everything but mostly hound, Hampton, (male). We used to also have a Gecko, Frogs, Guinea Pigs, Gerbils, Fish, a Turtle, and Hermit Crabs. But you know what happens with age. sad.gif

So I was just curious what kinds of pets everyone else has, if any?

So far we have a one acre pond with lots of fish, turtles and frogs and about a half acre small upper pond with fish and frogs. From time to time we have toads and a few snakes. We have wild turkeys in the field and sometimes deer and a bobcat that lives close by and a few coyotes and other critters. I have a black lab (Skyler Black Star), and a New Zealand White (Luna Bunnykin) so far. I'm hoping soon to be able to get more rabbits, and chickens and a pair of guinia hens. I may be getting a nice farm cat soon. My son has three nice cats and may give us one.

Oh man, Dundee, that sucks!

We animal lovers get as close to our pets as we do to people. Losing a pet can be devastating.

PICTURES! Take lots of pictures when you have the chance. I wish I had taken more. But I've learned, so now my dog doesn't even flinch when I use the flash...

Wow jamie83, that really is quite a zoo!

The guy across the street from my uncle's farm had llamas and alpacas. I liked the alpacas, wouldn't mind raising some of them, but holy cats! They're not cheap!

Seven dauchunds-3 boys, 4 girls One was abused before we took him in (behaves nicely now) and two others have back problems but we care for them as best we can. My wife would love an Irish wolfhound but I told her not untill the current rug riders are gone

We have been rescuing Shelties (Shetland Sheepdogs) for close to 29 years. We love the breed and have had 8 of them. Right now we have three, Irish 15-1/2, Maggie 6-1/2 and Riley 5-1/2. Irish is starting to show and act her age now. Is getting arthritis real bad, limps and very wobbly when she stands and walks. I am so dreading that day....

We have been through cats, hedgehogs, fish and tarantulas but now have three leopard geckoes, a 4 1/2 foot corn snake and our youngest childs newly acquired lovebird. This is, by far, the most demanding of any of our pets but still a pleasure to have around.

We are down to 2 cats from 6 and a rabbit. I am not a cat person my wife is.
We last had a sheltie / heeler mix, she died 5 years ago. We also had a shelttie that died at 15, that was close to 20 years ago.
I had a black capped conure for close to 12 years, she died from being egg bound. I could go on and on about chickens, rabbits, gerbles. guinea pigs, mice, etc.... I have 6 kids.

Well, we lost two great dogs the past few years. Our Canadian Black lab named Hunter and our rescue dog Brandon who lived an incredible 22+ years. We are really not sure how old he was as we saved him from the animal rescue league in 1993.

Our latest addition is an Australian Sheppard. This dog is very challenging, very energetic and requires all of our attention and skills. He is very loveable though:
