hello,

i am new to this site but just wanted to let people know about a new cd i've been listening to . . . Mary Jane Lamond's "Storas". Just released in the past couple of weeks and it is lovely. Mary Jane is a Gaelic singer from Cape Breton. The songs are most definitely traditional but with very interesting arrangements and full band behind her. MJ's voice is haunting. Although i do not speak gaelic the songs speak for themselves with the universality that is the thread of music. i am wondering if anyone else out there is familiar with Mary Jane's music - know of any previous albums, have you ever seen her live?

smile.gif I know I'm familiar with her music, although I don't have any of her CDs in my library. I first heard of her in a "Celtic Tides" documentary I caught on Bravo a couple years back. I added the soundtrack to my library, which includes "E Horo". I've also got Ashley MacIsaac's Hi, How Are You Today which features Mary Jane Lamond on vocals. I agree, she does have a really nice voice smile.gif

Hello there! I am a huge fan of MJL, but have not yet had the chance to get her newest CD. Hopefully soon!

MJL has four other albums. The first, Bho Thir Nan Craobh, was never released to Cd and is only available on cassette. The other three are Suas E!, Lan Duil and Orain Ghàidhlig. All four are excellent and none has a single word of English on them! I think you would enjoy them!

Thrilled to hear that Mary Jane Lamond will be added to the Celtic Radio playlist. It will be a treat for first time Mary Jane listeners and a great way for fans to get exposed to her new material.
