Kitty Litter Cake
Great Halloween cake! You'll need a new kitty litter
box, box liner and litter scoop as "props" to get the full
effect with this cake!

Makes 20 servings.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1 (18.25 ounce) package
German chocolate cake mix
1 (18.25 ounce) package white
cake mix
2 (3.5 ounce) packages
instant vanilla pudding mix
1 (12 ounce) package vanilla
sandwich cookies
3 drops green food coloring
1 (12 ounce) package tootsie rolls

Directions
1 Prepare cake mixes and bake according to package
directions (any size pan).
2 Prepare pudding according to package directions and
chill until ready to assemble.
3 Crumble sandwich cookies in small batches in a food
processor, scraping often. Set aside all but 1/4 cup. To the 1/4
cup add a few drops of green food coloring and mix.
4 When cakes are cooled to room temperature, crumble them
into a large bowl. Toss with 1/2 of the remaining cookie
crumbs, and the chilled pudding. You probably won't need all
of the pudding, you want the cake to be just moist, not soggy.
5 Line kitty litter box with the kitty litter liner. Put
cake mixture into box.
6 Put half of the unwrapped tootsie rolls in a microwave
safe dish and heat until softened. Shape the ends so that
they are no longer blunt, and curve the tootsie rolls
slightly. Bury tootsie rolls randomly in the cake and sprinkle
with half of the remaining cookie crumbs. Sprinkle a small
amount of the green colored cookie crumbs lightly over the top.
7 Heat 3 or 4 of the tootsie rolls in the microwave until
almost melted. Scrape them on top of the cake and sprinkle
lightly with some of the green cookie crumbs. Heat the
remaining tootsie rolls until pliable and shape as before.
Spread all but one randomly over top of cake mixture.
Sprinkle with any remaining cookie crumbs. Hang the remaining
tootsie roll over side of litter box and sprinkle with a few
green cookie crumbs. Serve with the pooper scooper for a
gross Halloween dessert.

Another fun one is Spagetti with Eyeballs.

Cook your favorite sauce ( red sauce ) and spagettie noodles as normal, shape meatballs around green stuffed olives leaving the ends of the olives exposed. Pemento stuffed olives are cool but the large garlic stufffed ones give the glazed over look of dead eyes.

Serve on plates with the "eyes" looking at your guests or kids.

My kids used to love this one.

The source of this one is lost, sorry to anyone who it belongs to. Not so much a gross out recipe but the food coloring makes it special:

Hot Bacon Cheddar Spread

This is another one of my "staple" appetizer recipes. With the addition of a little bit of orange food coloring it became a great orange dish for a Halloween buffet. This is a very savory spread that is easy to make and sure to please everyone. It is especially popular with children. You can substitute chopped pepperoni for the bacon if desired.

8 ounces cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1 teaspoon crushed thyme
salt and pepper
orange food coloring
1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1/4 cup sliced scallions
8 slices bacon, cooked crisp and crumbled
1/2 cup crushed ritz crackers

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Mix together the cream cheese, mayonnaise, spices, and food coloring until well mixed. Add the cheddar cheese and scallions. Place in a shallow baking dish and sprinkle with bacon and crackers. Bake for 15 minutes.

Found this one on www.recipezaar.com , posted by queenkungfu

Banana Dog

A fun take on the hot dog. It would be perfect for a young child's "cooking" lesson.

1 servings 1 dog
5 min 5 min prep

1 hot dog bun (whole wheat would be the healthy choice)
1 tablespoon peanut butter or cream cheese
1 tablespoon strawberry jam (any kind of jam or honey would work)
1 banana, peeled
raisins
shredded coconut
peanuts

spread one side of the hot dog bun with peanut butter (or cream cheese).
Spread other side with jam or honey.
Sprinkle on other ingredients.
Note: you can pack this for lunch if you spread the peanut butter on the bun, leave the banana unpeeled (to be peeled and put in bun by child), and put all the fixins in little sandwich baggies.

Good point. I've been passing it around among the people I know who do kiddies' literature, and it's making a huge hit.

I love the Mexican Dia de los Muertos candy skulls associated with All Souls' Day. I never knew they were this easy to make, though. Here's a site that gives step by step instructions -- easy enough for kids to make, and you don't need special molds either, you can mold them by hand and have fun poking in the eyeholes:

Those are some great Halloween recipes. It wouldn't be Halloween around here with out some spiced cider. Here's some you make in your crockpot

Serve this hot spiced cider right from the slow cooker.
INGREDIENTS:
1 gallon Cider
4 small cinnamon sticks
20 whole cloves

PREPARATION:
Put all in the slow cooker or crockpot and and turn on high until hot and then turn on low or just put on low and leave it. We serve from the slow cooker or crockpot all day. Lovely drink for winter weather
