Hi everyone! I wanted to let everyone know Paul and I are contacting some of the groups, and artist that have been requested to be added to the play list. Hopefully, we will be recieving some new CD's in the next few weeks to add to the broadcast.
Some of the artist that have that been sent information about, CelticRadio.net are-

Black47
Cherish the Ladies
Boy of the Lough
Steeleye Span
Flogging Molly

Flogging Molly's rep replied with in 20 mins and forwarded our request to their radio promotion guy!!! So that is a step in the right direction! smile.gif

If there is an artist that you would like to hear on CelticRadio.net post them here with a link to their main web page. Then we can see what we can do! We can't promise that we will be sent anything, but at least we can try.
Cheers!

I've already PM'ed MacFive about this, but I contacted Bob Haligan, Jr. of the group Ceili Rain. He emailed me and said he was going to contact HR. If he hasn't already done so, please contact him. They're truly an excellent group. I don't remember the URL of their website, but a quick google ought to find it.

Thanks for starting this thread. I'm sure a lot of folks have favorite groups they'd like to hear on HR.

http://www.leahymusic.com/ although now that I look we've already got some of their stuff.
Deanta, although I can't seem to find an official home page for them, I'd come across some of their stuff one day and I dug it. I know http://www.greenlinnet.com/shopping/search_detail.cfm?productID=146 is bad, but you can abuse their bandwidth (if you have Real Audio) and http://www.greenlinnet.com/listen/ra/1173.ram to Whisper Of A Secret. Two days to go, Waltz of the white lillies and Where are you are my favorites.
Planxty has disbanded but I found and enjoyed some of their tunes as well.

I just got back from a show where I heard the most awesome original song by a multiplatinum songwriter Harold Payne. It is called "Farewell to Ireland" While Harold is not necesarilly a Celtic musician, this song was very moving and I am going to try and persuade him to send it to Paul so that we can hear it on CR.N

Posted by: mingkee 10-Jun-2004, 10:42 PM
do anybody know them?
http://www.musiker-boersen.dk/folkemusik_&_viser/the_islanders.html
Islanders
I got their mp3s by chance, not bad

they're from Denmark, that I took a while to search

I just recieved word that FLOGGING MOLLY will be sending CelticRadio their CD!!!!!!!
For those that do not know, Flogging Molly, they are a high energy band, mixing Traditional Celtic styles with that of Rock and blues, with a hard hitting back beat.
They are really a great bunch of musicians, and entertainers.

Cheers!

Hi Rose!

How are you? Well I hope. Yes, I know I haven't been here in a while-life has been in quite an uproar lately(a hermit's nightmare LOL!) but just dropped in to say that I recently purchased the Winter Storm III CD and just plain love it!

In corresponding with the fine gentleman handling my purchase, I informed him how I happened to find out about the CD and suggested he might forward the other two CDs-Winter Storm I (more piping) and WS II (more drums) on to CRN. He replied that he most definitely would!!

So hopefully we can all look for more of Winter Storm to be here soon-woohoo!

Take care,

Greg

Hey! Snuffy! Great to hear from you! Wondered you have been!

Hey! that is great about your new CD. I just ordered a new one too by Twinflame! I am all excited. When I ordered it, the band members wrote me personably! I was shocked and yet sooooooooooo pleased! I told them all about this site, MacFive's name and everything! I was probably a bit too obnoxious but wanted them to know about this site!

I am having a huge party at my house next Saturday.............a hermit's nightmare too! But hubby insisted it was our turn to have these people over..........sheesh! rolleyes.gif

Great to hear from you!

This is great news. New Musicians and ordering CDs from the artists we play. I happen to personal like Winter Storm III alot!

So, I can't thank you all enough. Especially when you purchase a CD as a result of listening on Highlander Radio, it helps us alot just to send a little note to the artist how you found their CD. Makes a good impression and we see more CDs for the broadcast.

I'm looking forward to hearing Floggy Molly!

I like Silver Arm a lot. I just got their c.d yesterday when I went to a restaurant they were playing at with a friend. http://silverarmmusic.com should be their website if I remember correctly.

I took the initiative to contact Jodee James myself wink.gif Wonderful person to speak with! She should be contacting you soon, Paul; if she hasn't already.

I am going to see The Wicked Tinkers in concert next month and plan to tell them that I heard them on this site and all about it!

Is there any way we can get a wider selection of The Proclaimers? I like their music a lot especially their song "Cap in Hand". Just wondering.

Hi Cosmict! Nice to meet you! I love your avatar! Cool!

I bought the "Peaceful Warriors" CD. I absolutely fell in love with the song, Om Mane Padme Hum! That is me requesting it every day! LOL when I wrote them personally they said they were so happy I loved that song cause that is one of their favorites too cause it talks about world peace. Have you been in their website? I love reading how they met, fell in love and got married! I did not know all this before I had heard from them personally when I ordered their CD.........shame on me! But I know about them now! What CDs do you have of theirs? What are your favorites?

Posted by: Lyra Luminara 17-Jun-2004, 10:24 PM
aww, flogging molly are so nice. I love them. haha.

You should try contacting Dropick Murpheys...hellcat records isn't a very big label so you shouldn't have much of a problem contacting them.

Oh and you should also try Jeff and Mycheal Danna. Great Composers...have two albums called 'a celtic romance' and 'a celtic legend'

Just a few from my radio wishlist....

We could always use more Battlefield Band:
http://www.battlefieldband.co.uk

Jerry O'Sullivan has done some amazing things with uilleann piping:
http://www.uilleann.com/jerry/

Paddy Keenan...."the Jimi Hendrix of pipes"....need I say more?
http://www.paddykeenan.com/

Slainte Mhath is a real fun Cape Breton group:
http://www.slaintemhath.com/

More Liz Carroll would be exceptional:
http://www.lizcarroll.com/

Progressive Irish rock from the piper in 'Titanic':
http://www.badhaggis.com/

!! You have no Bothy Band? Everything's going to be ok...!!
(they broke up a while ago...but Greenlinnet can probably point you in the direction of airing rights for the music)

Scantily Plaid
http://www.scantilyplaid.com/

Some of Shane MacGowan's songs are political...but stuff like 'Haunted' and 'Pair of Brown Eyes' would be perfect for this radio...
http://www.shanemacgowan.com/

John Kribs....former bassist with the McKrells...has done some amazing side projects...some of which might be more celtic than others (Ask about the Raquette River Rounders)
http://www.johnkribsmusic.com/

Brúadar is a really hot young group of Newmarket on Fergus
(can't find any websites though....)

That's all from me for now...

Cheers

May I request Stonecircle an excellent celtic band from Utah. See http://www.stonecirclemusic.com/

Most of their music is available for free download at the band's webpage or at amazon.

Their music is reminiscent of Wolfstone, but a touch subdued.

Their first album Serendipity is out of print. Alchemy and In Concert are available at the band's webpage. Winter Sky is coming out later this year.

Hey Cosmict! I hope you see this! I recieved my three Twinflame CDs today! I was so thrilled! They even personally autographed "Peaceful Warriors" for me! I was so jazzed! I am listening to that CD now as I write this! I just really love their music and highly recommend them to all reading here.

Cosmict, they are supposed to be in concert in the Phoenix area sometime, Wen told me. But when I look at the website I don't see it. Can you tell me where and when? Thanks! I don't want to write them again, for fear of being a pest.

Anyway, thank you and them for my CDs! I am so thrilled to finally have them to listen to. Yippee!

Ok, so they won't be in Phoenix area for awhile then, thanks for telling me. I looked over your website (which is wonderful, btw) and did not find it. I thought it was me. I love their love story and how they got together..........so romantic! Sigh! You can tell I am a woman, eh? wink.gif biggrin.gif Keep us posted on stuff regarding them! Hard to pinpoint which CD I love the best as I love them all!

Take care! smile.gif
