Hey Dundee!

Thanks for purchasing a Barley T!
To answer your question, Urramaich a eorna is phonetically pronounced:

uhra-mock ah ay-or-na.

Hope this helps when people inevitably ask "What does it say on the back of your shirt?"

Thanks so much for your support!

Slainte,
Nancy

My husband just told me that nothing is written in stone just yet for the Milwaulkee fest but it looks likely. Come look us up when/if we are there, I'll be the redhead in the mini-kilt selling cd's and t-shirts!

Hey dundee and A Shrule,

It looks like Barleyjuice WILL be at the Milwaukee Irish Fest next year! They expressed great interest in Barleyjuice and I think they even contacted us! I'm pretty sure the Juice will be in Cleveland as well.
They are popping into the studio over the next few months and will have a new cd for next year! Can't wait!

It's already looking like a very busy season! laugh.gif

Thanks for your support!

Cheers,
Nancy

Great picture! Barleyjuice is revamping their website and they will have a page devoted to pics of fans with Barley T's on! Can we add this one?

Hi Nova Scotian,

A Shrule Egan is correct, my husband is a piper and he has taught most of the pipers in our band (I play tenor drum). Including Kyf Brewer, another member of Barleyjuice. They do a mean piping duel on stage, very cool stuff. If you have any questions I'm sure he could help, just let me know and I'll pass it on to him. (He doesn't get on the forums much).

Slainte,

A Shrule, I do remember you met Swanny, but his hair was much shorter, no? biggrin.gif

Anyway, you do have me intrigued! Who is this contact person??? Can't wait to find out...you like keeping people in suspense, huh?

As for Florida, hmmm, sounds good to me!

They are working on playing a festival in Wisconsin and several other fests out in the midwest next summer. Will keep you posted.

They will be heading into the studio next month to record their third cd. Should be a hoot!

Cheers,
Nancy

QUOTE (A Shrule Egan @ 26-Sep-2005, 06:28 PM)

Hey Nancy, I thought I saw your hubby from a distance on Sunday but I wasn't sure if it was him. Was he with you???

Yes, we were by Donegal Square many times on Sunday. We were picking Neville's brains about some of his product line. We were also hanging out near Rocky and Kelly at USA Kilts fairly often.

We'll be working on getting Barleyjuice for the fest. We now have a direct connection and we'll be discussing many things with that person, for next year. Just need to make sure Barleyjuice doesn't have to play in the "Ice House". That's not a place for them to play. I complained about having The Barley Boys play there. That's a place for accoustic bands only.

Hey A Shrule,
Yup hubby was there as well, he has very long curly blonde hair, you couldn't miss him if you tried! lol

We were hangin' with Rocky and Kelly also. Boy were they busy!

Do you have a contact person to whom we can send the new press kit?
I've never been in the Ice House, but I'll take you're word for it, expecially since I, and I'm sure lots of people, don't even remember it's there half the time. I've been to that festival many times and still have not been in there!

Let me know what info you have.

Thanks bunches!

Slainte,
Nancy

P.S. Great pics by the way!

Hey Annabelle and A Shrule, I believe I saw you guys from a distance by the Donagal Square tent. I was walking passed on my way to the bathroom and beer tent (in that order)...when I came back, you were no where to be found. Sorry I missed you. It was early Sunday afternoon.
We had a really nice day and since it was my "BIG" birthday I was all about the hard cider and music! Barleyjuice was playing in Philly on Friday and Wildwood at Irish Weekend on Saturday so it was a non stop party for me all weekend. I'm totally exhausted!
We're still trying to get Barleyjuice in the Celtic Classic, I think that venue is absolutely perfect for them.

Haven't been on the board here in a while. Been busy with the new school year starting and it seems like there is just not enough time in the day for anything that includes me sitting at the computer for very long.

Sounds like you guys had a great time as usual, did you get to see Old Blind Dogs? They were really great. Since we could only be there Sunday we tried to see everyone, but I thought the Dogs were the best.

Maybe next year we will be there and get to hang out with you.

Tequila Nancy

I'm a crossing guard for the elementary school around the corner from my house so I have about a 30 second compute! Took this job to pay for the board for my horse. I am also a horse trail guide. (I take people on trails on horseback through a park/around a lake here in Bucks County, PA) Now that the weather is getting better it is an absolutely fantastic job! I get to ride my horse and get paid! biggrin.gif
For the last 11 1/2 years I was and still am primarily a stay at home mom for my two kids. And I think that is the hardest but most rewarding job you can have.

So I'm back from NYC and boy, what a blast!! Unfortunately we didn't march in the parade, since it was pouring with thunderstorms most of the day! I know, we are wimps.

Barleyjuice's show at Connolly's was fantastic however! They played from 3 till 5:30 and the place was packed with the non-wimps who marched and got drenched, (smelled like wet wool and beer the whole afternoon). But we didn't mind, at least we were dry! We all drank, and danced and sang the entire afternoon.

Then it was off to Rocky Sullivan's, the place wasn't as crowded as we'd hoped but it was hopping none the less. My poor feet were killing me by the end of the night...step dancing in high heeled boots is not an easy task.

I hope you guys get to see them live sometime, they had us in stitches all day.

Cheers, cheers.gif

QUOTE (Dreamer1 @ 22-Mar-2005, 10:01 PM)
Hi gals!

I'm afraid it's been a Looooonnnggg winter, I've spent part of it as a forced couch potato, and now I've got to pay the piper (as it were) for too many extra pounds. HELP!!!! I've been eyeing the brand-spanking-new "Curves" that just opened in our little town, seriously considering getting up my nerve and dropping in to see what's what there. Have any of you been there, or is anyone familiar with them? Could you tell me what to expect, what you like about them, dislike about them, costs involved, attendance expected, etc......?? I'd really appreciate any input you can give. Thanks all!

Dreamer1

Hi Dreamer1, I know exactally how you feel. I finally got motivated one day right before Christmas when I went to put on an outfit and it didn't fit! In fact nothing fit me well anymore. So I decided, that was it, I would join a gym for New Years. I had never belonged to a gym before, I only ever excercised in my home, alone. I saw a sign for $10 for the first month in my local Slim and Tone, (very similar to Curves, but has more classes), so I bit the bullet and walked in. The owner, Christine, showed me around and explained the circuit (the different machines, called stations). She made me feel very welcome and at ease. It is a circuit where you are on a machine (exercising arms, legs or abs), for 1 minute, then there's this guy on a tape loop that tells you that you have 30 seconds left, then 15 seconds, then when it is time to change stations. Between each machine you jog, jump rope, junping jacks, use dumbells etc., the object being that you keep moving and your heart rate up. They also have treadmills, gliders, pilates balls, even the bun and thigh machine (as seen on TV). If you are really motivated, you don't bother chatting, just concentrate on keeping those abs tight. But it is nice to chat once in awhile, knowing that you are all there for the same purpose, to lose weight and get in shape. I can't tell you how much more energy I have now. I even took a Tai Chi class and will start a Yoga class and an aerobics class soon. I try to work out 5 times a week. I know it sounds like a lot but I really, really hate my flab!! I am noticing that my after 3 months I feel great, my clothes are fitting better, and I have so much more pep! I say, give it a try and see if it's for you, most curves and such let you try it free for a week...but, remember you are the one who can make you stick to it! Good luck!

Just wanted to let you all know about the Tartan Day Parade up 6th Avenue on April 2, in NYC. My band, Loch Rannoch Pipes and Drums, in which I am a Flourish Tenor, will be marching. It is quite the spectacle in NY with all those kilts swaying about. The parade steps off at 2:00pm. You can check it out here: http://www.tartanweek.com/NewYork/home.asp

Also Barleyjuice, with be performing at Connolly's Pub on 47th and Madison at around 3:00pm right after the parade. And again at Rocky Sullivan's at 129 Lexington Ave. around 9:00pm. http://www.barleyjuice.com

It should be a total blast! We did it last year and it was awesome!

Hope to see some of you there!

I went to see Shamus Kennedy at Brittingham's on Friday guess what?? Bill Reid was there! We had a really nice conversation and I asked him about the whole Gaelic Storm problem and how none of the bands had any real celtic influence. He explained that Gaelic Storm messed up his sound system because they insisted on using their own ear piece monitor system and their sound guy didn't know what he was doing, thereby cutting the entire system off. So Bill couldn't even make an announcement to tell the crowd what was going on!!
He agreed that there wasn't much in the way of celtic music on the main stage. He said that the bands seem to be steering away from the traditional stuff. I told him I had spoken to many disappointed people during and after the festival. He realized this and said he would try to have more of a variety in the future.
I also did a little shmoozing with him about Barleyjuice and when we were leaving he told Keith he would be in touch!! Keep your fingers crossed!

Not sure what Bill had in mind either. I think he secretly wants to be a rock promoter. biggrin.gif Apparently he has the same line up for the summer festival as well. At least that's what I heard at band practice last night. That is one festival I won't be going to unless Barleyjuice is in the mix somewhere. And a pipe band or two wouldn't hurt either!

Hey! We were hanging out on the fringes of the Gaelic Storm show. Yikes! It took them forever to get on! We had met up with some of the other members of our Pipe band and had a beer or two while waiting for the show to start. I was kind of disappointed in the sound system. That sound guy should be sacked! Anyway, I kept my eyes open for you guys, unfortunately you were nowhere to be seen. I assumed you went to Kildare's. Rocky is a nut, but I guess you figured that out, no? laugh.gif
We kept bumping into Barleyjuice fans from all over. People from the Renn Faires, festivals, even people from private parties they played for...It was really amazing.
We left in the middle of Seven Nations. The band I most wanted to see. I was so disappointed! The sound was bad and they don't play any real traditional stuff anymore. I liked Brother's sound, but again, where's the celtic stuff?? Gaelic Storm...the same thing...they are all turning into to rock bands with bagpipes and digeridoos! That's why I like my Barleyjuice, traditional stuff that's rocked out a bit!
Sorry to be so negative, I guess it's just a Tuesday morning after a long weekend wink.gif

Let's get that campaign to get Barleyjuice to Bethlehem going!! laugh.gif

Annabelle and Mike, It was so great meeting you guys at the festival. Annabelle, you are truly a die hard festival fan for traveling all over the country to go to these things. biggrin.gif
Oh, I figured out that the Green Lane festival is the beginning of September. The 10th and 11th. Here's the website:
http://www.montcopa.org/parks/scottishfest...ival/schdl.html
The site is still under construction so there is nothing listed yet, but you can check back in a month or so and they should have something up on the site. I believe
the Glengarry Bhoys, Halali, and the Hooligans are performing. The location is lovely, it's a beautiful park with rolling green hills and there's even a lake with Nessy swimming around!

Anyway, hope you both got home safe.

Slainte,
Nancy
