Just to build on to oldraven's thread "You are what you drive", what are your all time favourites to listen to while driving.

I'm going to start with the mine:

Radar Love - Golden Earring
Highway Star - Deep Purple
Born to be Wild - Steppenwolf

I like up beat music of all types when driving...if I listen to relaxing music I start feeling like I'm doing that commercial on U.S. television where the car rental company says" maybe we should put aromatherapy candles in the back window for all of our customers?" Next scene they show, 4 people going down the highway, all asleep with their mouths open...
Then one person for the car rental company after visulaizing this says: "na, that might not be a good idea"

So I really like anything with a good "up beat" or good rhythme to it...

Hah! Low Rider.....growing up in LA! (And that ain't Lousiana!)

My music list is way too long. Gotta get a couple or three more of those 12 disc holders for my truck.

One that stays on the list, tho, is my half-sister's band The California Girls (www.thecaliforniagirls.bizland.com). Sandy's the bass player in this all girl surf band form Los Angeles.

Like Annabelle sez, gotta keep the tempo up tho. I remember driving across Wyoming at 3AM (in my stories, it's always Wyoming and it's always 3AM) listening to some good blues (Albert King or sombody) and noticing how hard it was to keep above 40 mph! Every time I'd look at the speedo I was creepin!

Thinking about Satellite Radio for future long haul trips....or one of those .mp3 juke boxes that hold about a million tunes.....

.....used to play trumpet one handed (all together now) "...while driving across Wyoming at 3AM....."

No, actually on 101 running all night between San Jose and Long Beach, great fun playing along with the mariachi music going thru Salinas. "Aiiiiii, la musica de Los Tigres Del Norte......"

My list is on another thread about the same thing.

Some good driving tunes, that like to be sped to though.

Bad Habit - The Offspring (It's about road rage, to the extreme)

All sorts of Metallica, pre -black, and a select few since.

Smashing pumpkins, when they were good (ie, before Billy Chamberlin was kicked out) stuff from Siamese Dream takes the cake.

System of a Down, of all sorts. I've yet to be late for work while listening to these guys.

In other words, Angry screamy stuff.

Road trips, that's a different story alltogether. See other thread for details.

I know y'all have been anxiously awaiting this so here it is.

Veneno Mortal, by Dorindo Cardenas

anything by Carlos Santana

Rayando el Sol by Maná (well, practically anything by Maná, but this one really gets me)

Rayando el sol
rayando por ti esta pena, me duele, me quema sin tu amor
no me has llamado, estoy desesperado
son muchas lunas las que te he llorado.

CORO
Rayando el sol, oeooo desesperación
es más fácil llegar al sol, que a tu corazón
me muero por ti oeooo viviendo sin ti y no aguanto,
me duele tanto estar así rayando el sol

A tu casa yo fui y no te encontré
en el parque, en la plaza, en el cine yo te busqué,
te tengo atrapada entre mi piel y mi alma
más ya no puedo tanto y quiero estar junto a ti.

CORO
CORO

Rayando por ti
Rayando Rayando, ¡Uuuh, rayando, rayando el sol!
Rayando, aya, ay, ay, ay,
rayando el sol Rayando...

Leo

Get me going on a nice drive with some good trance techno. Trance Sunday Project, or The Cynic Project, and there was collaboration with Chicane for a techno piece....very nice called Saltwater. It starts you off nice and slow, before you know it, you are about 100 miles away from the exit that you were supposed to take lol. Kept me going for that 5000+ mile road trip across country.

i agree w/ oldraven--i usually like to scream and shake my fist at the world. it is especially nice to have something like POD or Linkin Park or Rob Zombie on a clear moonlit night.

but when you're driving into a sunset or through wheat fields, it's got to be something...like i don't know what. Doobies, or something.

it is quite fun to imagine yourself as part of a movie--work in a chase scene or two between yourself and imaginary Crazed Evil Biker People. not advisable w/i city limits, but it certainly makes your life a bit more interesting!
