--------------------
Compassion is the sometimes fatal capacity for feeling what it is like inside somebody else's skin. It is the knowledge that there can never really be any peace and joy for me until there is peace and joy finally for you too.
- Frederick Buechner

If society prospers at the expense of the intangibles,
how can it be called progress?

Beautiful imagry of pain past, but not forgotten.
That which cuts deep, leaves a scar everlasting, lasting through the healing joy.

Yes.

And how hard it is to keep the pleasant from making a complicated mix with the unpleasant -- how life isn't sorted that neatly. I think it's partly how close "Blue Scars" sounds to "Blue Skies" -- they don't look all that much alike, but the sound underneath the words is very close, and I think it makes the same point.

It all goes hand in hand. Kindof like how much more wonderful the blue skies are after a fierce storm.
