Welcome to our Ghost Story forum on CelticRadio.net. This is the place to share your haunted experiences, premonitions and terrifying nightmares with other CelticRadio members! Don't say we didn't warn you about going beyond the welcoming message of this forum. You just might want to turn all of the lights on and make sure someone is home with you before you enter!

The Scots and Irish, (and for that matter the Celts), have a rich history of blending belief with tradition based on Celtic myths, legends and Celtic christianity. Isolated in the islands and highlands, uniquely powerful and superstitious Scottish-Irish legends and myths developed in which tradition and a very strong belief in the "Second Sight".

Second Sight? Have you heard of such a phrase? According to the Celtic Monthly, vol. 14, no. 4, January 1906, "What is Second Sight: the power given to certain individuals to see events before they happen, or while they happen, although at long distances. That in the Highlands and elsewhere there were and are such people is a fact that has been proven beyond all doubt; The recorded evidence on the subject for the past two centuries is most extensive and conclusive..."

It's hard to know what to make of all this. Some consider the Celts to be ethnically predisposed to ESP, while some speculate that certain geographical areas, including Scotland, are more supportive of "etheric" beings". Though a skeptic, in researching this topic, it was impossible to dismiss all the Celtic legends as unfounded. It is also interesting that certain elements of witch craft and the workings of the "Otherworld" are common the world over - for instance, the Scots, as everyone, used silver to kill shape-shifters (werewolves) and garlic to ward off evil.

Whatever your personal beliefs, the folklore of the Celts is fascinating and can be best described in the Ghost Stories that abound through the Emerald Isles and the Highlands of Scotland.

You've been warned. Enter at your own risk of mortal fear! ghost.gif
