Not sure about all of the members on here, but I know some of you have talked about getting started with computers with the famed Commodore 64 from the 1980's, which was the most successful computer ever selling 17 million units.

Well, some boys from down under are working on bringing back the Commodore 64 with a project called the Mega 65 project. They already have a working version of the new system that supports HDMI and Internet along with full compatibility with the C64 and all of those ancient games we use to play. This system will run 50 times faster than the original C64.

Check out their website located here for all of the details.

Right now there is immense interest in 80s retro computers due in part to a number of shows that feature the 80s like "Stranger Things" to name one. Check out ebay and you will see several of these 80's systems now going for $500 to as much as a $1,000. The last of the C65 which was produced very limitedly recently sold for $87,000 at auction. So check your attic for some hidden treasures!

They are entering the pre-production phase with several working models of the final version. Here are some pictures from their website.

Right now they are exploring various ways to fund the production phase, keep an eye on their website, forum and facebook page for more details when this little gem becomes available.
