Celtic Music News

Greetings Celtic Music Lovers,

I hope you're having a wonderful holiday season. Mine was kicked off last week with snow in Louisiana. We got six inches of snow and our power was out for three days. Having lived in Texas for the last 26 years, what a trip that was. It was a perfect start to my Christmas celebrations.

My first gift to myself is finding an apartment in the Lower Garden District of New Orleans. Now I just need to find a few shows so I can start gigging there.

CELTIC CHRISTMAS
Hey! Ever wonder what it would be like to have Christmas in Killarney, or anywhere in Ireland? Check out this article at the Irish Fireside..

And if you're looking for Celtic Christmas music, traditions and more, check out my new Celtic Christmas website..

IRISH & CELTIC MUSIC PODCAST - CHRISTMAS EDITION
For those who are wondering, I hope to record my Celtic Christmas special today. So it should be out by the end of the week. In the meantime, check out the Cleveland Celtic Podcast. Wendy will have TWO fantastic Christmas shows this year.

GIVE THE GIFT OF CELTIC MUSIC FOR CHRISTMAS
A couple days ago, someone emailed telling me they wanted to buy a Premiere Membership for their child for Christmas. I never thought to offer gift cards. But you can do it yourself. Just sign up as a Premiere Member, and we can make it happen.

NEW STREET TEAM
A week or so ago, I setup a brand new mailing list for the Celtic MP3s Music Magazine and the Irish & Celtic Music Podcast at Reverbnation where I host my personal mailing list. It offers a special section for street teams. I think I will be discontinuing my Celtic Promotions YahooGroup to take advantage of this great service.

If you are not yet subscribed, unsubscribe to your current list and then sign up at reverbnation. You will also be able to sign up to the street team while you are there.

Cool... which I'd have gotten that Celtic Thunder CD, though. I saw their concert on PBS the other night. It was pretty good. =)

I love the Elders! They played this year's Pennsylvania Celtic Fling. It was great seeing them live and getting to chat for a few minutes with the lead singer. I can't wait till they get back out to the East Coast!

I'm Elrond. Funny, I don't look a bit like him. I'm not even tall.

Interesting...

1,007,712 with my first name
483,460 with my original last name
1,612 with my entire maiden name

6,768 with my husband's last name
23 with the short form of my married name

And probably only one of me with the double last name. It wouldn't fit in the search box. Of course, the last time I took a census I wasn't married yet. I've only been married for about 9 months.

Granted! You own your own brewery, but the smell of hops makes you violently ill.

I wish I had a big cup of coffee.

QUOTE (Roberto Phoenix @ 11-Apr-2007, 06:59 PM)
DO NOT buy from Clansman Knitwear unless the merchandise is right in front of you and you can see the quality. I put a $100 deposit on a kilt I've been wanting to get now for five years.  luckily the maker of the tartan, who told me that no order had even been placed for my kilt, has no connection with Clansman.

My husband ordered his rig for our wedding from Clansman. The kilt actually came within a month, and was very nice and a great price for Bruce tartan. We're happy with that. The other stuff in the package (hose, sporran, flashers, etc) took so long to get to us that he complained to VISA about getting money back. The rest of the package showed up two days before our wedding. We placed the order in April or May and got married at the end of September.

The story we got was that the temp worker quit without telling anyone while everyone else was out at festivals for the summer. While the owner seems like a nice guy when you get him on the phone, they don't really seem to have a clue how to run a good mail order business. Sad, really, because it's hard to find affordable clan tartan kilts.

I will put in a good plug for the lady who made my wedding dress, Very Merry Seamstress (www.verymerryseamstress.com). Great selection and affordable prices (and no extra charge for plus sizes). She does male and female clothing, and while I didn't get any tartan clothes from her she will make them... but the fabric doesn't come cheap.

Hi folks!

I'm Karen, 29, from Baltimore, MD. I have a smidgen of Irish ancestry that I've been exploring (I'm taking Irish Gaelic classes and am studying Irish paganism, among other things). My husband is Scottish and proud of it.

I've been a fan of the station for a long time and recently signed up for a Founders account. With all the unpleasantness over the RIAA's new radio royalties, I figured it was time to step up my support of internet radio.

In my spare time, I'm going to college part-time to get a second bachelor's degree in Communications. I also love to read science fiction and am involved in the local science fiction fan community.

I'm glad your search turned up our family crest. My husband is a Carothers. My mother-in-law has done some extensive work on the geneology of the family and has a website. I'll have to bug her for the web address to post here, in case anyone else happens to need to research the Carothers line. She has done an AMAZING amount of work.
