Sorry to everyone if there is already a forum opened for this, but I couldn't find one already established. I just had a quick question. I've been out of soccer for a while now, but now that my two oldest are showing interest, i'm interested in trying to learn about the European League. But after scanning through the internet, it seems there are several different leagues and cups. Can anyone help me with an explanation, how many different leagues are there, does each one have a cup final, is there a cup final for ALL of the leagues combined, etc? Also, is there anywhere to find a little history on the teams, in both the English Premiere League and the Scottish League? Maybe a website. I have to admit that my geography is not up to par on where these teams are located throughout England and Scotland. I like to pull for one or two, as in any sport you follow, but the only ones you hear about are Man. United or Arsenal. I hate to pull for a team and follow them just because they're the most popular. Thanks ahead of time. Sorry so long and tedious of a question(s).

I'm just getting into soccer myself. Here are some websites that might help:

http://worldsoccer.about.com/od/scotland/

About the Scottish Premier League, I can tell you that the teams Celtic and Rangers are from Glasgow and Hibernian is from Edinburgh. Additionally, Celtic and Hibernian were founded by Irish settlers in Scotland (Hibernia was the Roman name for Ireland).

In the EPL, Manchester United is affectionately known, due to an image in their crest, as the Red Devils.

I get email newsletters from Celtic and Hibernian of the SPL and Manchester United and Liverpool of the EPL.

Thanks, Mike. It looks like they have some FAQ forums on those sites, too. I'll try my luck there. I haven't plyed or coached in almost twenty years, and back then soccer was nowhere near as popular then as it's finally getting to be here now. So the Euro Leagues, in my part of the world, were really unheard of. Thanks again. beer_mug.gif
