well, my m-i-l is doing well with her cancer treatment. she didn't need a full mastectomy after all, just a lumpectomy. she's had two chemo treatments so far, and has been achy and tired, but not sick. she's even gone to work a fair amount of the time. actually, thinking about the current thread, she's on prozac, too. she started taking it a couple of years after my hubby and i got married. thank goodness, because she was an absolute basket-case before. and she's very honest about all the improvement she and the f-i-l have seen in their love life since she started taking it. wink.gif not that i needed to know that...

hello all. so sorry to hear about all the tragedy and death. in my work i see it often, but it never fails to make me a little heartsick when someone is taken before their time. i know they are in a better place, though, and with the One who loves us and has a purpose for each of us.

school is winding down for the semester, only three more weeks, thank goodness! and only three more semesters left, also thank goodness! oddly enough, i am anticipating my older kids getting out of school more than i am myself. i miss having them around, and now after spring break i have to get used to it all over again. i'm grateful for my little Jacob. without him the house would be far too quiet during the day.

well, we bought "The Seeker" which is the renamed movie of Susan Cooper's book "The Dark is Rising", the second in her series of the same name. (they didn't make a movie of the first book. weird, huh?) the books are for about the same age as Harry Potter, take place in Wales, and are loosely based on Arthurian legend. loved them to death when i was a kid, but the movie was a disappointment. they took all the welshness and myth and beauty out of it. (sigh) for pity's sake, they made the young boy an AMERICAN living in Wales. what crap. sorry, i'm venting. why do they change things that are already lovely? my kids like it, there is plenty of action and suspense, but i felt that there was just something missing compared to the books.

have fun on your trip, leenie, and good luck with surgery when you're back. i would love to visit Scotland...can you fit me and wombat in your suitcase along with everything else? hope you have a great time.

been off the site for a couple of weeks and missed you all. our internet was down for five days thanks to a powersurge in Comcast's somethingorother, and after that i've just been busy with school, work, church, kids, hubby, dog, etc. poor hubby, i just realized he was second to last on that list, just above the dog. i promise that list is not indicative of my real priorities. tongue.gif

i'll bite...
many of my fellow nurses in the ICU have been, um, enhanced. i've never heard any of them say they regret it. we're trying for number 4 baby now, which will probably be our last. i've told the hubs that i'm having my varicose veins done when we're done having kids. the new "in" thing is the "mommy makeover": a tummy tuck and breast enhancement. i've thought about it for when we're done. haven't decided. i'm not against plastic surgery, but i don't want to look like Dolly Parton, either.

truly, there is really anything secret anymore thanks to television. somehow, though, the workings of a woman's mind is still a mystery to a man, isn't it? can't really blame you, ulsterscotnutt. we are quite fascinating. wink.gif

Hello all, sorry I've not been on in a while. This week has been so busy. My folks have come to stay with us for a week, and we're all having a great time. They live in Texas, so we don't see them often. Today was my oldest son's baptism, so it has been a little hectic, but very special day. We're Mormon and our kids are baptized at eight years old. Can't believe I have an eight-year-old already... Where does the time go?

So now the fun and most of the family are gone and it's back to the books. Got a paper due (online) tomorrow night for my nursing research class. Will I ever be done with school? Maybe my youngest and I can graduate together... rolleyes.gif Another nice thing about the parents visiting is that I won't have to pay the babysitter when I go to class Tuesday and Wednesday. The only downside is that I'd rather visit than study. Then again, look what I'm doing now instead of writing my paper. Hee hee hee...

Two elderly sisters left the doctor's office after their checkups, and split up to do some shopping. When they met back at the house, Martha had bags full of organic fruits, vegetables, high fiber foods, and told her sister a treadmill would be delivered later that day. Esther's shopping bags contained several new pairs of designer shoes, four new belts and matching handbags, and five hundred dollars worth of new jewelry.

Martha said, "Why on earth did you buy all that crap?"

"Just following the doctor's orders." sniffed Esther.

"What does that stuff have to to with the doctor's orders? He told us to eat good foods and exercise." said Martha.

"Oh! I thought he said get new shoes and accessorize!"

hey everybody, sorry it's been a bit since i've posted. kids, school, work, etc...

All of you are in my prayers that you and yours will be better soon. I know it sounds silly, but I'm a firm believer in a cod liver oil pill to ward off illness. I take one of those, and an omega fish oil pill to prevent heart disease and a multivitamin everyday. And three times a week a Super B supplement. I know I sound like a nut, but I've had a very healthy winter, despite working at a hospital.

Congrats on the new job, Robert. Be safe out on the roads.

Anyone going to see Celtic Woman when they come to Utah in April? They're playing at Kingsbury Hall. Haven't been able to talk the husband into going yet. Maybe I'll take me sisters-in-law. I'm so excited. It's a pretty great little theater, too. We saw Les Miserable there last year, and the acoustics are great.
