Elspeth and Barddas, you guys got me to thinkin'. We know you're both fans of The Waltons, and that had me remembering some of the other old shows that we used to watch. I'm curious now everyone! Which shows were your favorites? I will always enjoy watching The Avengers, especially the Emma Peel years! My husband is an Avenger fan, and also very much a fan of The Prisoner. More favorites include Dr. Who and Man From Uncle (too funny!) Jog my memory now everyone! Which ones would you love to see again? Dreamer1 |

Ah, the good ol days! I was a huge fan of the All Creatures Great and Small series on BBC. I also tremendously enjoyed The Prisoner. I am also a fan of the early years of MASH, before it got to be too preachy. And my guilty pleasure, the old Emergency series, with Randolph Mantooth and Kevin Tighe. It led me to become a paramedic. I really didn't watch too much TV growing up. After I learned to read, I always thought that what TV came uo with was lame compared to my imagination. Good topic. Just my tuppence. Andy |

Hill Street Blues Adam-12 (caught an episode recently and realized how cheezy it is by todays standards) Emergency CHIPS Bonanza Man from U.N.C.L.E. Kung Fu MASH Andy Griffith (still a favourite) Monty Pythons Flying Circus Fawlty Towers Get Smart Mork and Mindy A seventies music show which I think was called Midnight Special usually featured great groups. That's all that I can think of right now but I'm sure that my memory is going to be jogged by other posts as it has by the first ones. |

I think I may be telling my age, but who cares The ones I liked was: F-Troop Rin Tin Tin MASH The Waltons Combat The Real McCoys The Rifleman Rawhide Sugarfoot Cheyenne Daniel Boone Andy Griffith I could have kept going but I thought 12 would be enough. How many of you remember these |

Buffy TVS. I can't believe that it's over. Well, at least we've still got Angel. |
Posted by: single speed 21-Nov-2003, 03:50 PM |
Monty Python, The early years of SNL, Hill Street Blues, and Mork and Mindy. Truth be told, I still ahve a crush on Mary Ann from Gilligan's Island, so that would have to be on my list as well. T. |

Here's my list: The A-Team Miami Vice It's Garry Shandling's Show-a show ahead of it's time CHiPs M*A*S*H St. Elsewhere Married...With Children Happy Days (with Ron Howard) Unhappily Ever After (A Married...With Children ripoff but I watched it for Nikki Cox ) And I can't believe nobody has mentioned this one yet. Y'all got your ears on? The Dukes of Hazzard (with Tom Wopat & John Schneider, not the two clones) |
Posted by: Richard Bercot 21-Nov-2003, 04:09 PM
The only thing I liked about the "Dukes of Hazzard" was Daisy (Catherine Bach). How much of a Duhh was that one? |
Posted by: MDF3530 21-Nov-2003, 04:22 PM
I remember the reunion show they did. Boy, has she let herself go. When The Dukes of Hazzard was on in first run, I wasn't interested in girls yet, so her then-gorgeous legs didn't have my attention. My dream car to this day is still the General Lee. One of these days, I'm gonna buy the make & model of that car and have it fixed up to look just like the General Lee, right down to the horn that honks "Dixie". |

I'm astounded. And not nearly so lonely as before. Turn up your speakers and click http://www.emergencyfans.com/sounds/1squad51.wav for a blast from the past. So AndyLucy, do you agree that the old movie Mother, Jugs and Speed was but a thinly disguised documentary? (I worked for an outfit just like that for a while). I could relate some stories that would give you a real bad case of the heebie-jeebies. While working there we had a tradition of all the crews gathering around the tube to watch the M*A*S*H reruns. That was back in the days when Denver Fire Department apparatus were not allowed on the Interstate Highways, because they sucked the white lines up off the pavement. When I was a lad I preferred The Rifleman with Chuck Connors and of Gunsmoke. This in addition to The Mickey Mouse Club. S |

Well since I am a BIG Alexandra Paul fan I would have to say the first few seasons of Baywatch as she left after season 5. Oh and an extremely close second for the 90's is highlander the series. This was during the 90's. 80's I would have to say Knight Rider because the whole sort of theme of the show was that ONE man (Not being sexist here just what was always stated in show) could make a difference! And being young in the 70's I would say the Muppet Show LOL |
Posted by: Elspeth 22-Nov-2003, 03:43 PM |
You guys have hit just about all of them! And brought up ones I had forgotten. And Richard, yes, I do remember most of those show, but not all. Remember I am the baby sister! Waltons Bewitched Mork and Mindy Dark Shadows (one I forgot) Bonanza M*A*S*H (my husband can quote every show - Adam's Ribs anyone?) And I wan't a kid, but I love the Muppet Show. Great sarcastic comedy buried in there. McCloud Murder She Wrote Andy Pandy (I was a tot when it came on) Emergency (had that girlish crush on Randolph Mantooth) The Monkeys Twilight Zone The Nanny Kate and Allie Mad About You Stopping now. I am sure there are more. |

By the way, Hi Fiddler and Snowblind -- Welcome!! Glad you've found us. Dreamer1 |
Posted by: Keltic 22-Nov-2003, 10:48 PM |
I had forgotten so many!! It's amazing that there was so much on television back when there were only 4 channels. Now that there are 400 channels, there is nothing on. Snowblind, I can't believe that I forgot Fraggle Rock. I used to love that and my children have a number of the episodes on tape. |

I used to love the sci fi programmes- Space1999 and Blakes 7 I was also very fond of some of the variety shows like Morcambe & Wise and The Two Ronnies. Starsky and Hutch were my dreamboats!! |
Posted by: High Plains Drifter 23-Nov-2003, 07:21 PM |
I was a big Emma Peel fan ( thought she was the sexiest thing on TV at the time) so I would have to put the Avengers on my list. Also: Monty Python, Laugh In Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman Soap SNL with the "Not Ready for Primetime Players" (hasn't been the quite same since they left) The Jackie Gleason Show The Carol Burnett Show St. Elsewhere Hill Street Blues Gunsmoke Bonanza |

Does anyone else remember "Robin Hood"? |
Posted by: Keltic 23-Nov-2003, 10:33 PM |
How about "Rocket Robin Hood" Band of brothers marching together, Heads held high in all kinds of weather, dum dee dum dee dum dee dum dum dum ..... It's Rocket Robin Hood |
Posted by: Annabelle 23-Nov-2003, 10:48 PM |
Robin Hood and Rocket Robin Hood? Richard & Keltic, the rest of us are not as old as you guys, ok? Don't try to pull us in, we don't remember any of that ancient stuff. Annabelle |
Posted by: McHaggis 23-Nov-2003, 11:41 PM |
....as in "Robin Hood, Robin Hood, riding thru the glen, Robin Hood, Robin Hood, with his band of men......" (or something), Richard? Now I remember.....Robin Hood was played by (and this is a reach) Richard Sterling? Some dark haired guy named Richard, anyway. Have to do a search to see how accurate I am. I am as old as TV....well almost. Annabelle is as old as she wants to pretend to be....but she could tell you that Clayton Moore was the Original TV Lone Ranger and Tonto was played by Jay Silverheels. I've been to Lone Ranger Ranch north of Los Angeles....it was up near Spahn's Movie Ranch of Charles Manson fame. RON |
Posted by: McHaggis 24-Nov-2003, 12:13 AM |
After a quick search, I see I was wrong about the star of the old Robin Hood TV series.....'twas Richard GREENE and not Richard STERLING. Oh well.....the show ran from 1955-58 and was filmed in and around London and Sherwood Forest, incidently. RON |
Posted by: Richard Bercot 24-Nov-2003, 01:58 AM
Yes McHaggis, that is the very one I remember. You did a good job singing the song I remember. I was beginning to worry, no one around my neck of the woods remembers that show. I was beginning to wonder if I made it up in my own mind. Thank you. I would dearly love to see one of those old episodes again just to remember. |
Posted by: tartangal 24-Nov-2003, 02:07 AM |
I can't say I really remember the series, but I do know the song.... Robin Hood ,Robin Hood ,riding through the glen, Robin Hood ,Robin Hood, with his band of men, feared by the bad, loved by the good, Robin Hood ,Robin Hood , Robin Hood. |

Last night I watched a DVD of an old television show that I had forgotten to mention. It was "The Red Skelton Show". I remembered watching it every week when I was a kid. A lot of the material in it is still hilarious and a little risque even in todays standards. |
Posted by: McHaggis 03-Dec-2003, 09:03 PM |
Hey, Richard.....you didn't happen to see the 1970 or 1971 Lynwood Diplomats Drum & Bugle Corps on any of those old Red Skelton shows, did you? I've been looking for a copy of that for our files. Naturally, they're not listed in the credits on any of the DVD packages for Red Skelton that I've seen.....I'll keep looking though. RON |

Hlndr, you sound like a real SF & F fan! If you tell me you also read Asimov, Heinlein, Bradbury, Norton, et. al., then you can join me in the geek club. |
Posted by: ballydun 16-Jun-2007, 12:36 PM |
Does anyone remember a PBS show called "The Electric Company"? That was one of my favorites as a kid. I also loved The Donnie and Marie Show. (Donnie Osmond was soooo cute!) Vegas The Muppet show was one of the best on TV Cheers Rockford Files Magnum P.I. I'm such a geek but I loved Solid Gold-They would have these totally 80's hairstyled dancers dance to the weeks top 40 hits. I so wanted to be one of them. The Gong Show was pretty good too. Well, for what it was it was pretty good. I'm sure I'll think of more . |

How could I have missed this thread for so long? Knight Rider Airwolf A-Team Unfortunately I never have been able to watch anything of the sort on a regular basis, and I haven't seen an episode of Airwolf in ages. |

My favorites were/are: I Dream of Jeannie stalag 13 (sp?) Petticoat Junction Beverly Hill billies Star Trek Miami Vice (when I was in college) ER (have only seen seasons 1 through 7, can't get into the current season 'cause don't know characters) Friends (okay, but RAchel was such a slut) Have only been a sporadic TV watcher since college. Current favorites are House, M.D. and Criminal Minds I really like most of the BBC series; Horatio Hornblower the one I can think of right now. Ian McFadden (that's his name, right?) is such a hunk. REally enjoyed him as Lancelot on the most recent Arthur movie (the one with Keira Knightly). I wonder how old he is now and if he's single. *sigh* Elaine |
Posted by: gaberlunzie 17-Jun-2007, 03:55 PM |
When I was a child I loved LASSIE and FURY!!! Some really old TV-Shows I used to watch were - Gunsmoke - The Rifleman (I think this is the English title, you know, Chuck Connors was starring) - Bonanza and later I also watched - The Waltons and - Miami Vice.... Is it really THAT long ago?? |

I was all for the Saturday morning cartoon stuff. H. R. Pufenstuff can still kick Barney's arse. Anything with superheros or swords live or cartoon. I can remember a Justice league cartoon series back from the sixties way before Superfriends came around. Even caught Superman the Musical on PBS once. Any car show like Dukes or Starskey and Hutch wewre never missed. After Star Wars it was all sci fi. Got hooked on Dr. Who in college and haven't yet missed an episode. Riverdance and Braveheart got me into the celtic stuff I watch now. And yet for some reason I'm listening to Robot Chicken in the background |
Posted by: pflanary 18-Jun-2007, 09:00 AM |
Hogan's Heros and F Troop--guess I was into the silly ones. |
Posted by: Irish Cherokee Princess 19-Jun-2007, 08:17 PM |
And so now I feel like a real idiot. Ioan Gruffud is the actor's name in Horatio Hornblower. Not having watched either of the Fantastic Four movies, how was I to know he'd become such a star? And he's too young for me and engaged to boot. Life is unfair. |

I remember wanting to stay up late and watch Outer Limits when I was about 7-8 yrs old. My dad finally relented and let us stay up past 8:00 to watch it- we got to watch one show and our TV broke. The neighbor had a good TV, though, so we would walk down to his house and watch it and walk home in the dark. We lived out on a farm and had to walk passed these dark barns to get home- talk about scarry! Those old barns were just full of aliens and blob monsters and creepy skeletons and vampires! Yikes!!!! I'm still scared of vampires even though I am 54 yrs old! tandvh |

As a kid I watched a lot of Mr. Ed Gunsmoke Have Gun Will Travel (my dad's favorite and I had to watch it with him) Twilight Zone Outer Limits but my all time favorite is The Addams Family (the show, not the movies). As a child I loved their house, their furnishings, their way of life - in other words, I wanted to be the Addams Family. I am still looking for that perfect Queen Anne style Victorian house and all the weird furnishings to go in it. My husband does know this, and he says what ever makes me happy. We will see. |

Wow, this is a good topic to think about. Since I am a product of the television generation, I could probably list a hundred obscure shows that I enjoyed. Some, I'm compelled to watch whenever they come on even though I've probably seen the episode a hundred times. Many are already listed by others so I'll just list a few more: Magnum PI JAG The Guns of Will Sonnett Stingray Fireball X-15 The Green Hornet I own all the Get Smart DVD's MacGuyver Combat Twelve O'Clock High Room 222 The Mod Squad The Rookies Adam-12 Dragnet The Rifleman Robin Hood Great Caeser's Ghost....Superman The Big Valley Any Son's of Hercules Movie Daniel Boone Wanted: Dead or Alive Okay, that's enough.... |

This was a great refresher topic. It's amazing the old shows that you once loved to watch, that you have somehow forgot about. I believe evryone has just about covered tham all. Although, I am quite fond of the "old" cartoons that used to play on Saturday mornings. I feel sorry for my kids and the stuff that they put on their now. Although I guess they'll say the same about the next generation. I also liked the original Superman series and Abbott and Costello they played every Sunday morning locally in my area. Great to come home after church and watch those. |

The tv series that I love is "Robin of Sherwood" from BBC. I remember watching it when I was little with my family and we had such warm memories. I had to break down and get the box set on DVD- although there are only 2 sets. I have had them for about a year now and I can't bring myself to watch the last episode. I feel fine living in denial. |

Ah now, dearie, grab a beer and go ahead and take the plunge. It'll be good for you. Then you have something to look forward to by starting them all over again... |

I used to love to watch the real Batman (Adam West) when I was a child, Have never seen one of the movies that did it better than the real show. |

Hmmm another kids show I used to love was Captain Kangaroo. That was how I started my mornings after chores and before school. Which also brings to mind Romper Room. |

All three of those bring back memories. Forgot about Romper Room. Loved the 'chalk kid' stories on Captain Kangaroo. |

Hey does anyone besides me remember "The Honeymooners". It is rumored that NASA found the skeletal remains of a human female on the moon, guess Alice pushed Ralph too far. |

I always found the Honeymooners kind of dreary. I use to love the Ed Sullivan Show. |
