A Rose-Bud By My Early Walk

A Rose-bud by my early walk,
Adown a corn-enclosed bawk,
Sae gently bent its thorny stalk,
All on a dewy morning.
Ere twice the shades o' dawn are fled,
In a' its crimson glory spread,
And drooping rich the dewy head,
It scents the early morning.

Within the bush her covert nest
A little linnet fondly prest;
The dew sat chilly on her breast,
Sae early in the morning.
She soon shall see her tender brood,
The pride, the pleasure o' the wood,
Amang the fresh green leaves bedew'd,
Awake the early morning.

So thou, dear bird, young Jeany fair,
On trembling string or vocal air,
Shall sweetly pay the tender care
That tents thy early morning.
So thou, sweet Rose-bud, young and gay,
Shalt beauteous blaze upon the day,
And bless the parent's evening ray
That watch'd thy early morning.

Beautiful words, and I too wish I had Robert Burns insight to the world around him.
By all means start a section on Mr. Burns he's not that hard to understand. He has so many wondrous works I never tire of reading his words of wit.

Remember the men from whom you are descended.

I am Wolf.
It is my cry you hear in the night,
My eyes that gaze at you from the shadows.
It is my heart that beats in your Soul,
My strength that makes you whole.
I am Wolf. I am in you.
You are in Me. We Are Wolf.

I think that might be a good idea, Cat. It would also give those not familiar with Lallans, a chance to see it, and maybe an interest.
And, not to mention he does deserve his own thread. wink.gif

Thanks Cat for sharing that poem! It would go with my avatar! biggrin.gif

Seriously, I have just recently started reading some of his poetry and would love it if you started a thread of Burns poetry, especially to see how the Lallans was written.
