Okay, so here's the thing. I've just started taking voice lessons, and my instructor told me I could pick any music to learn on. So far I've got several different types: Broadway, Folk, and Contemporary Christian. I have been looking for a book of Celtic Music for people in the middle voice range: Alto/Belter and Metzzo Soprano. I haven't found anything, so I am hoping that some of you can help. Does anyone know where I can get either sheet music or a book of songs that are celtic in nature? I'd love to have some of the songs by Loreena McKennitt or Heather Dale, but I can't find anything of that nature.

Thanks!

Here are a few that I found:

Cilea Sheet Music

I don't know if any of these are vocal or only instrumental, but they are free and Celtic!

Free Sheet Music

Kerr's Music

Taigh na Teud

Hope that helps some. There is much more on Google. I just did a search for Celtic sheet music for mezzo sopranos.

Heather has a songbook to go with Call the Names, which has lyrics and sheet to everything on that CD.

When looking for sheet, I found 8notes.com, not sure how much that'll help.

Also, from what I hear, Celtic music and sheet notation don't make good bedfellows. Allowed to try by ear?

I kind of need the lyrics and the accompanyment since the guy playing the piano needs to know what to play. He's good, he could probably do by ear, but its not as easy to teach or to determine the pitch and timing by ear.

Thanks for these resources. The Heather Dale book for Call the Names is out of print, so I sent her an email asking if there was anything like it still, I haven't heard back yet. We'll see though.

Out of print? interesting.

Well, she is working hard on her new CD, so it may take a while for her to get back. I've only recieved one mail from her since October, asside from newsletters. I figure she's just busy.
