I have already play the Scottish Reel with my Banjo accompanied with 2 Bagpipes. That was fun.
Richard, you've got to record that and send a copy to MacFive so we can all hear. I've heard pipes and fiddle together, I'll bet the banjo sounds really good with the pipes too.
As for which area, I'd have to say Scotland, the far north. Stathnaver is the home of the Mackays. But would like to see the rest of Scotland also and Wales and northern England.

Sorry to say, but when I was playing my Banjo to the Scottish Reel, we were in a Mountain Man Encampment. The two Scotsmen that came in had just come from a Pipe and Drum Competiton in Canada.
This was one of the spur of the moment things. I don't even think that there was even a Video Recorder there. Just about everyone that was in the camp got up and danced. This is one event that I shall remember always.
This happened back in either 1987 or 1988 while we were at the Blue Jacket Long Rifle Encampment in Bellefontaine, Ohio over the 4th of July.

MY PERSONAL FAVOURITE PART OF THE UK IS SCOTLAND AND THATS ABOUT IT , I DO NOT LIKE THE MAJORITY OF ENGLISH FROM FIRST HAND EXPERIANCE BUT I FIND THE SCOTS AND IRISH FAR MORE CULUTRED , FRIENDLY AND INTERESTING THAN THE WELSH OR ENGLISH.

I din't know that you were a McKay! I am a McKay also through my mother's family! Vedy, Vedy Interestink!

'S i Alba tìr mo chridhe. 'S i Gàidhlig cànan m' anama. Scotland is the land of my heart. Gaelic is the language of my soul.
The Northeast of Scotland is definitely planned on my next trip. I've traveled all over Ireland and find it to be truely an island of wonder, but Scotland calls me.
Just last year, my mother's cousin published a family history book about the Adkins-Scalf-Water-Ezell family heritage they share. To my delight, the Scalf name traces back to a woman who was from the Isle of Man! I thought 'ah HA - one more place to add to the Must Visit list!'
It was cool then when my husband was watching motorcycle racing on the telly one Sunday afternoon and called me into the room to see the location of the race: The Isle! I promptly sat down on the sofa and watched the rest of the race with him. What a beautiful place, similiar to England and Iireland in some ways but very unique in others.

"All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost. From the ashes a fire shall be woken, A light from the shadows shall spring; Renewed shall be blade that was broken, The crownless again shall be king..."
I have a special affinity for the Isle of Man too! One of my many great-grandfathers fought and died there during the Jacobite Rising. I would love to touch that soil too!
I only have about 5 more years before my children go off into the big bad world. Then I'll be free and I'm going to sell everything I own and buy a big rv and travel the world.
My first stop will be Scotland for sure.

It's called find a big enough cargo ship and drive the rv onto it. I don't care how much it costs. I won't have any kids to take all my hard earned money. ehhehehe
I would have to say the Isle of Skye, Isle of Man, Ireland, Scotland and Wales, well that should just about cover it.. *smiles* There are so many places that I would go to I can't just pick one..
