| In speaking with my broker today I learned that while the political parasites in DC are arguing over raising the debt limit, the three ratings agencies are concerned about spending. Thus a downgrade of our credit rating is assured. Our increased interest will then make the debt unsustainable under any circumstances. That is the "real" reason why Wall Street is so skittish right now. I was watching a news program this AM and a D senator stated that we absolutely had to raise the debt ceiling "so we could borrow money to pay out debt." His mouth was obviously far ahead of his brain. That would be like using your credit card to make your house payment. Maintaining a life style by accessing our home equity proved disastrous and similar action by the govt. will have the same outcome. Sadly the time to prepare is probably past for us now!
