The 99 year-old Capitol Power Plant, which provides steam for heat and hot water in congressional buildings, will soon end its distinction of being the only coal-burning facility in the District of Columbia.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Friday that the switch to natural gas as the only fuel source used at the plant was part of their efforts to reduce the carbon pollution by congress in the nation's capital.
"The Congress of the United States should be a model for the nation '' Pelosi said.
Personally, I feel they should just turn off the heat and hot water and we would all be better off!
Aye, not only hot air, but a congress full of a lot of foul gas, too.
Of course the more intelligent thing would be for them to cut off their own electricity altogether! Or better yet, have a suicide party and thus eliminate their carbon footprints from the nation and our planet!
(Dear mister or misses eavesdropping National Security agent, the aforesaid statement was a symbollic expression excercising free speech, not a rallying call, plot or scheme against our most corrupt government.)
I have said that I favor restricting the legislative session to6he days between December twenty-sixth and December thirty-first just to restrict the damage they do each year. Were it cold at the same time, there would be even less damage.
