The airstrip on Barra that only exists when the tide is out. http://www.smh.com.au/photogallery/travel/worlds-scariest-airports/20090203-7wl9.html?selectedImage=2 And the freckle-faced waitress that didn't want to bring me haggis on a cold, rainy day in Fort William ("d'ye ken wha' it is, leddy?") and then stood in the door of the kitchen watching me eat it. It had lots of pepper in it. There's a weather that makes you want it more than anything in the world. |

There was an article in a recent National Geographic about the Hebrides, with a great photo of Fingal's Cave. I think of the Highlands. I'm a sucker for mountain terrain generally and the Highlands are gorgeous. I can almost hear Celtic music too. I also think of Edinburgh castle! |

Ahhh these are good ones. stoirmeil I had no idea there was such. I wouldn't want to take that flight. Antwn I too love the mountains more than anything in the world I think. When I hear the word Scotland I also think of the sword called a claymore. Slainte |

I think of the empty banks of Loch Naver where the towns that were cleared once stood. Now only scattered stones to mark the remains. |

Coming down the Prince's Street in Edinburgh from the Castle and looking out at whatever is framed in the other end of the closes that open off it. http://images.realtravel.com/media/md/ab/df/abdfc88a35c873e5a1c1a33afce5c3fb.jpg |

Land of my Birth Mist shrouded Highlands And Pines looking down On deep green Glens. Jagged Coasts And Rugged Ilses The taste of salt Upon the winds. The cry of Eagles and The rushing sound Of clear cold burns Tumbling o'er the rocks Cascading down to the Dark waiting Lochs. The skirl of Pipes And the lilting brogue Of the Scottish Folk. Camac |

Mist and the folk who were cleared off thir land for sheep. The sadness of the defeat at Culloden at the "butchery" that occured after it. The anger that we are not an independent nation yet and the destruction of shipbuilding , steel making and other industries. The disappontment that oil found off our shores did not get used for the betterment of our nation. The pride in many inventions that have changed the world. |

When I think of Scotland, I instantly want to put on a thick, warm sweater. Some of the things that come to mind are: stone cottages lush green rolling land and lonely moors sheep busy pubs a backdrop of music for everything |
