This is the Civic Holiday long week-end here in the Canada. The Day goes by different names in different provinces. Here in "Good Ole Ontariario" it is "Lord Simcoe Day" named after the Brit Lord who is the first Lieutenant (Leftenant) Govenor of the province and the founder of York which later became Toronto (Algonquin for Meeting Pace). He also abolished slavery in the Province in 1810 and was responsible for establishing the government and courts.

Hope you're having a great holiday weekend then Camac, lots of parties and beer I suppose? Or are you just riding the bike through the neighborhood with the gang of Senior Scooties?

Quiet week-end. BBQ at the Legion on Monday that's about it. Also we old fart bikers made the Halton Police 10 most un-wanted list. They really know how to deflate ones ego.

Wow, a holiday weekend and you can't even get to be notorious. Actually an un-wanted list can be taken two ways; not on the wanted list or just plain unwanted. Did they clarify? Maybe you should take the muffler off your scooter so it wakes up the neighbors every time you ride, or wear a fez and ride around in circles like the Shriners.

Once when we were kids, my older brother and I rode our bikes (bicycles) out to watch a local parade go by. My brother had an odd bike our father had built for him which he had painted white with red stripes, like a barber's pole. Don't ask me why, he's just goofy. Anyway, as the parade went by there was a space between the floats. My brother rode his bike into it and proceeded down the street waving to the crowd as if he were part of the parade. Not a big deal, it was a small parade in a suburb. It was a hoot though, although I freaked out at the time and kept trying to get him to come back out, thinking he'd get into trouble. Maybe you could do something like that. You'd probably make both lists ...wanted and unwanted! My brother got away with it I think because his bike looked as though it belonged in the parade!

They didn't clarify but everytime we see a constable they just smile and shake their heads. Dan Snow, the oldest at 78, got stopped because he didn't have the chin strap on his bicycle helmet fastened. The constable was very polite and gave Dan a lecture about a man his age should know better and sent him on his way.

Can't take the muffler off because there isn't one but the Province is thinking of passing legislature to put noise makers on the E-Bikes because they are so quiet that people don't hear then coming. Seems kind of stupid to me. There e-bikes ,battery powered non-polluting transportation. Sometimes I wonder about our politicians. If they paid me the big bucks I could come up with lots of stupid ideas.

Hope they let you choose what kind of noise maker, wouldn't that be fun? I know they'll designate something specific and approved most likely, but if you could put a big AAOOOGA horn on it that would be fun.

I spent Friday up in Duluth looking at the tall ships. They had about eight of them there including the HMS Bounty. For $6.00 bucks you could stand on the pier, look at them, and take pictures. I think it was like $30 to tour them. I arrived to late to tour but still got some great pics. They are there all weekend but I have to work. sad.gif

I was thinking more along the line of cannon fire or machine guns laugh.gif . That would definitely alert people to my coming. Well we will just have to wait and see what the bright boys at Queen's Park (Prov. Leg.) come up with .Maybe the MPP who suggested it owns a noise maker company.

Anyhow, I now intend to enjoy the rest of my week-end in peace and quiet and semi-solitude. I rediscovered a great place up on the bluffs that few know about. I can sit there and gaze at the Lake for hours and reminisce about my sailing days.
