Scottish2, perhaps we can borrow the rating systems from the movies? How about G, PG, R, and X? Personally, I shy away from X rated anything!!! However, some jokes that I find funny would probably fall under the "PG or R range for mature situations and humor"
For those in UK and elsewhere :
G = suitable for general audiences of all ages (think Mr. Rogers)
PG = parental guidance (some language may be considered offensive - stuff you would not want the children to repeat in Sunday School! the movie Shrek is rated PG for language and content
R = no one under 17 admitted without an adult (think adult language and mature situations) Eddie Murphy movies such as Beverly Hills Cop usually have "R" ratings
X = raunchy, nasty, low brow gutter "humor"
