What's your worst vacation memory?
Mine happened in 1987. We were on vacation in California. It was our last day. We spent our last few days in San Francisco. The night before, I must've had a bad burger at the Hard Rock Cafe. That next day, I was as sick as a dog. It must've been food poisoning. If it wasn't coming out the attic  , it was coming out the basement  .

I don't remember in what year mine happened, I was a kid of about 5 or 6, but I remember the incident well enough.
My family went camping with my uncle and his family. My younger sister and I did alot of exploring with our two cousins, who are almost ten years older than us. Well, one afternoon, we decided to go for a walk. We set out from the camp site, all for of us, looking around and talk, that is, until my cousins and I realized that we had lost my sister!
Talk about panic! We packtracked for a bit, looking for her, the we looked on the beach, then through the woods. Still now sign of her. Well, then we came to a cliff, not very steep, really, but a cliff nonetheless. This cliff had three poles with a rope strung between, and a small rope tied to it like an upsidedown noose. They decided that we were going to go down that cliff. Well, when they lifted me up, I started to go hand-by-hand down the rope, but they insisted that I grap hold of the noose.
I proceeded to slide down, inevitiably hitting the pole! And went flying. My glasses when one way, I went the other. I had one mother of a black-eye.
Due to my injury, we went back to camp in defeat. And found my sister. SHE HAD BEEN THERE THE WHOLE TIME!!!!!

My worst (yet) runs as follows:
September 2002 - our first skiing holiday - self, wife, 4.5 year old boy, 11 month old girl.
One week easy driving to get there, one week skiing, one week easy driving to return. Young son off to skiing school (HIGHLY recommended), and Wife & I would have turn about - lessons & skiing one day , then look after the baby the next day.
All went well until halfway through the skiing week. The baby wakes up at midnight and barfs all over the bed. Yuk. As there were more beds the room than occupants, we shuffled around, put the "barf" sheets in the wash, and went back to sleep.
Repeat the above at two-hourly intervals until 5:00am, when we ran out of sheets and towels. We were staying in a guesthouse, so I stumbled downstairs to ask one of the cleaning staff to explain and ask if we could have another set of sheets.
She dithered, and said she very busy. I got cranky, and I got my sheets.
As it was my day to ski, I set off with the boy to the slopes, and left wife & baby to recover - only they didn't recover - the baby kept up the two-hourly performances until my dearest decided to ring the doctor, who decided that the little one was a little dehydrated, and it would be best to admit her to hospital, just to be on the safe side.
So off we went for a 60km (40 mile) sunset drive to the nearest country hospital. I cannot praise this place enough - they had a "baby" room with an additional bed for mum/dad - the doctor recommended that mum should stay with baby - she was breastfeeding at the time, and that should continue as much aspossible, even if it came up again. The baby was too young to medicate with anti-vomiting drugs, so we just had to wait it out. They let her suck on frozen electrolyte blocks - even if she only kept a little down, it would help.
Anyway, after 2 days of this, she settled down and was pronounced fit to travel. About 36 hours later, on the road home, she relapsed. I had had enough - we were in Sydney at the time, so I bundled them onto a plane to fly home. A friend picked them up at took them home, where wife + son came down with it - fortunately, our local GP and hospital were able to look after them.
Meanwhile, back in Sydney, I came doen with it, too. I was staying at a friend's place, and he took very good care of me, finding a doctor I could go to the next day - she looked at my tongue and almost put me in hospital, but she gave me a jab, and said get some liquid into yourself. The jab worked wonders, and I was able to keep food and liquid down for the first time in over a day.
I drove home a couple of days later, and tried to forget about that particular holiday. :-(

December 30, 2000. I was returning to Phoenix after spending the holidays in San Antonio. After checking into my Hotel in Las Crusces, NM, I went out for a bite to eat. I approached a four way intersection, and signaled a right turn. As I began to turn, WHAM! I was rear-ended by a F-250 with a brush guard. My car was totaled, the truck sustained minor paint damage on the brush guard.
Due to the force of the impact, and the codition of my car, I was rushed to the ER for Xrays on my neck and spine. (My bell got rung). I spent 2 hours on a backboard, awaiting Xrays. Another another accident that came in at the same time,m and took precidence. I was released a few hours later, no damage, but my head was still ringing.
The good news? The car was a 1996 Mazda Millenia that had 98,000 miles on it. I had the car for sale for 4 months, asking $8,500. When the insurance was settled, I received a check for $15,000. Maybe this was'nt such a bad vacation after all.....

A little background info: A couple years ago, I got a new job with a very substantial raise in pay. I was a little nervous about it because I with that level of pay I knew what would be expected of me.
The weekend before the new job started we headed out to go camping with friends. On the way up, I started feeling chest pains radiating down my left arm. I got scared. Given that every male on my dad's side had had heart problems, I figured it was my turn. So we got to the camp site, dropped the trailer, left our kids with our friends and headed for the hospital.
Well, they ran some tests and admitted me for observation. No sooner than I had settled in, my wife takes off, promising me she would return. Now remember, I was very scared, but my dear wife didn't take it real seriously, saying it was just stress. I love her to death, but she never came back. I spent the evening alone watching TV while she was drinking margaritas. I was very angry with her for that.
I was released the following day after a stress test. The doctor said it probably was just stress. I found out upon arriving at the camp site that our friends had voted my spouse "Wife of the Year" for leaving me alone at the hosptital with chest pains. We joke about it now, but it was no fun.

We went down to Daytona, Florida to the beach to spend the week.....................well dope here had to get strep throat and had to be taken to the emergency room because my throat was closing up! everyone was out on the beach and enjoying the sand and water and I was stuck in the hotel room sick as a dog! I don't know why but my whole family was so mad at me and never invited me on a vacation with them ever again................they also never forgave me for ruining their vacation.............oops! 
Gosh! poor me couldn't help it!
