Celtic Radio Community > Politics & Current Events > Auto Packed With Flamables In NYC

Posted by: Patch 02-May-2010, 03:15 PM
A smoking auto was found packed with flamable materials and abandoned in Times Square.

The detonator appears to have failed. Someone "missed" that one and God had to intervene!!!

God had to intervene? Wonder where you'd find a source to verify that. Is His intervention selective? What happened to it on 9/11 or Oklahoma City and all the successful bombings here and around the world? Maybe he was watching The Simpsons.

It certainly was not the DHS or the FBI!!!

And here's the news nobody else EVER covers, folks, together with absolutely exclusive interpretive commentary! You heard it here FIRST!

Actually, we have a big guardian angel in New York, divinely appointed. He sits up there on the Chrysler building and blends in with the gargoyles, so you don't know he's there right away. Unfortunately, he's a non-English-speaking, socialist illegal alien, so sometimes he's a little hung up. But he gets around to things eventually.

Wake up, man. The real guardian angel was the street vendor who called the cops. Do you honestly think any power in the world can cover every corner of a city like this? The best defense we have is the very one that was used in this case. For every one of these, how many do you think are thwarted? And do you think they announce them all?

Just maybe God sent the street vendor there to call the authorities!

Or just maybe Patch had the compulsion to report another piece of bad news that is all over the wires anyway, without any additional information or productive commentary, but still decorated with an exclamation point or three, and God is taking the fall for it. Neither hypothesis is particularly easy to support, but one of them seems to have a bit more concrete data associated with it.

I too felt the theory about God being involved was the better of the two.

Okay! Let me interject my little bit.
I am a school trained demo specialist for the Army. From everything I have seen, including a computer generated drawing of the rig, THERE IS NO WAY,IN THE UNIVERSE, THIS COULD GO BOOM!!!!! (Short of being struck by lightning.)
If God intervened, it was by blessing this individual with an incredible lack of smarts.
Someone went through an enormous amount of wasted time!

From info released over the last 24 hours the person(s) involved were, as you noted, incredibly stupid.

The "fertilizer was agricultural grade and would not under any circumstances explode. The "propane tanks were commercial and for many years have had relief valves to prevent an explosion. Cans of gasoline will not explode, only burn. Fireworks do not detonators make. Is it possible that whomever never intended it to explode? possibly.

The most likely scenario for perosonal injury or death would have been fear and a panic where people were trampled because of a vehicle "bursting into flames."

If this were an international incident, it would have slipped under the DHS and FBI radar. Or did it?

I agree, human incompetence is more likely the reason than divine intervention from what I've read of the investigation......and thank goodness for incompetence.

Patch,

Contrary to how it may seem at times, not everyone here will hit you with a volley of insults and smarmy diatribe just because you have an opinion and choose to express it. I'm pretty much disgusted with all of it and the constant attacks on your intelligence by boorish and irascible people has become quite tiresome. Kudos to you for being able to ignore the ting-a-ling of such little bells.

Having worked in and around politics for many years I have developed a thick skin. What bothers me is when I see someone come to this site, post a legitimate thought and get stomped on. Then never return.

I believe that those who's opinions I respect understand and many have indicated such in E-mails.

I do appreciate your support.

Thanks!

I see that they caught the perp and two others. He was from Pakistan and a naturalized American citizen. His neighbors said he had gone to Pakistan by himself last summer for several months. If it was for training, he did not absorb much.

I noted with some interest that an RC-135 (on which I was a crewmember back in the late 60's) may have been involved in tracking down the perp. Of course, there's no way to confirm the story.

Catching Shahzad (Ears in the Sky Edition)

An RC-135 Rivet Joint SIGINT aircraft, on the ground in the Middle East. Did an airborne intelligence platform--like this one--participate in the search for Times Square bombing suspect Faisal Shahzad? (USAF photo)

Shortly after Times Square bombing suspect Faisal Shahzad was apprehended, various accounts began to circulate about how the authorities managed to track him down. One of the most intriguging appeared on the WCBS-TV website (and has since been removed). It suggested that intelligence assets were involved in tracing Shahzad's cell phone conversations.
