I absolutely love Oysterband!
"Blood Red Roses" and "Don't Slit Your Wrists For Me"
are among my favorites. ( actually discussed covering them in our shows )
Excellent band with an awesome sound. Superb song-writing.
If you haven't heard them, you owe it to yourself to check 'em out!

Well, what's happened for the past 3-4 months was a bit of down time for Finn's Fury.
We've replaced our original guitarist with a new guy, Charlie Drannbauer, so that meant
teaching him the sets and getting him acclimated.
Then I needed surgery on my left wrist to correct an old fracture that was mis-diagnosed as tendinitis. I had to have the whole proximal row removed ( the 4 bones in your wrist). That meant getting a fill-in bassist for some shows...more rehearsals.
Musikfest2008 was my first time playing bass again for some time.
We plan on playing everywhere next year...as many festivals as humanly possible.
Would be thrilled if Milwaukee was among them.

Thanks so much for the support, Harlot.
Our plan is to play as many festivals as possible.
Mich. has a great many Irish fests that we'd love to be part of so.....
Feel free to mention us to any and all festivals you'd like to see us at.
Hopefully, we'll be there.

OK, Subhuman, who shall from this moment forward be forever known to Finn's Fury as
"MacGyver", performed a miraculous brake patch utilizing a hair elastic from my beard, human stem cells, 3 sticks of Doublemint chewing gum and a small woodland creature which got us safely home.
That's the good new.
The bad news is the photos he took of our performance at Musikfest2008 aren't worth near as much now since we're all still alive and well.
After seeing the close-up of my twisted guitar cable the decision has been made for me
to go wireless....on my bass, that is. I'll still continue to wear underwires in my bra.
Cheers, MacGyver!

Just a reminder, O'Doom... three days until we're gonna toss back a few pints.
See you in Bethlehem, PA on Saturday.

Yes, indeed.
Just a forewarning...Calum's not gonna be at this gig. He's in Scotland defending a title and vying for the position of Royal fiddler to a court. BUT...we're bringing along a multi-instrumentalist who kicks ass on uilleann pipes, tin whistle and Irish wooden flute, so.....it's gonna be a blast!
Looking forward to tippin' up a few with ye.

Since you don't own a Gaelic/English dictionary, allow me...

May you be poor in misfortune,
Rich in blessings,
Slow to make enemies,
quick to make friends,
But rich or poor, quick or slow,
May you know nothing but happiness
From this day forward.

And I can't wait to hit Texas.
I'd love to share the stage with Blaggards on their home turf.
Thanks for the support, Jay.

I won the Finn's Fury CD in the "Claim this CD" contest and it arrived a few days ago.  IT IS AWESOME!!  I have had a blast listening to it, it really gets your feet tappin' and is what I would call "feel good" music.  That kind of music is why I stream the Celtic Pub Channel on Live365.
I am going to go to their Myspace page and [hopefully}add them to my friends list, or at least get some kind of link going so all my friends can experience the fun.

Hope they play Dallas, Texas sometime.  We have an IrishFest here that is pretty big.

Play on boy's, play on........

Jay

Well, hell! What more can a musician ask for in a comment?
Thanks very much, Jay, for the glowing praise.
Tickles the hell out of me to know what we've done has been so well received.
Damn glad you claimed our CD. It's great to know it landed in the hands
of someone who's enjoying it so much
Thanks for taking the time to post your thoughts on our "baby".
Yes, please do tell all your friends.
Word of mouth carries much weight and we do rely on and
greatly appreciate it.
One great comment deserves another, so here's one for you:
Go raibh tú daibhir i mí-áidh
Agus saibhir i mbeannachtaí
Go mall ag déanamh namhaid, go luath a déanamh carad,
Ach saibhir nó daibhir, go mall nó go luath,
Nach raibh ach áthas agat
Ón lá seo amach.
Sláinte,
O'Doom

Well, no....no plans.....but that could certainly be fixed in a hurry.
Where's a good place to play in Arkansas, Druid?
Better yet...where's a couple of good places to play?
Don't think we'll be heading your way for just one show....lol
Thanks for the interest.

As if I would answer "No" to an invite involving the consumption of alcoholic beverages!
Absolutely, subhuman. Sounds like a plan.
Also, much appreciate your offer of the reduced room rates.
Will let you know. Most likely we'll be crashing at my fiddler's cabin.
She lives in Manhattan and loves to do the weekend getaways in Pa.
Cheers.

Thank you all for the excellent comments.
I have to apologize for the delay in responding.
St. Patty's Day weekend is our busiest time and it was hectic, to say the least.
Of course, consuming one's body weight in Guinness and Irish Car Bombs doesn't help
matters.

Clicking the bottom play button will allow you to listen to our
good friends, Blaggards. Their album's called Standards. They're
a great group fronted by Paddy Devlin who hails from
Dublin, Ireland but now calls Houston, Texas home.

Thanks for the welcome, Robert and Rindy.
I appreciate the passing on of the CD's release. Word of mouth
is always excellent promotion. Also glad you're getting a kick
out of my son, Mini-Finn. He's a natural, eh? Quite the ham....don't
know where he gets it from...LOL We're making every effort to get out
to as many festivals as possible. Would love to hit Milwaukee Irish Festival.
Of course, requesting our presence to the powers that be at the festivals can
help that along nicely.
It's a pleasure to be here. If the 2 of you are any indication of the people
that frequent Celtic Radio, I think I'll like it here quite a bit.
Cheers.

Conas tá tú?
O'Doom, lead singer/bassist from Finn's Fury, here.
Glad to hear our CD is well received. Certainly was a labor of love.
Couple of things that bear correcting...Finn's Fury has 3 former members of Gael Force
in the line-up. Sean McKeon, drummer and co-founder of Gael Force, Leenya Rideout, fiddler and Kevin Allen, guitarist. Gael Force's former bassist Vinny DePaola appears on several tracks on "What About Ya?" but was involved early on. He opted out for personal reasons.

As far as playing our music on Celtic Radio is concerned.....play away. We'd be honored.
I don't know anything about what was asked or why Gael Force wouldn't want their music to be played.
What I do know is that this is a different band with no ties to Gael Force at all. Last news I heard of Gael Force was about the unfortunate passing of their bassist, Jose Damien, an incredible musician and fine gentleman. I'm not sure they're performing any longer. Haven't seen anything about them on the local scene.

MySpace is our homepage at the moment as we're re-vamping our actual website.
Hope to have that up soon for you all.
Go raibh míle maith agat,
O'Doom
