How do we go about suggesting or requesting a new group or artist to be added to the playlist? Thanks for your help!

I'd like to know the answer to that question too, there are more than a few great Nova Scotian artists missing from the lineup.

To request an artist or particular musician, just post the information here. Be sure to include a link to their website and we will write directly to the group to obtain a copy of their CD.

Be sure to also include a little information about why you like this group, so we know that it will fit within the broadcast.

Eventually, we will put some information on our frontpage about this so it is more apparent for people that want to try and get their fav celtic musician on the broadcast.

On thing though is that we require the artist to send us the CD, so we have permission to play their music and it is done all proper.

Hi Paul,
Just wondering if the recent changes I see (upcoming artistists listing is missing, and the access to the total playlist is gone) are permanent of temporary. I don't feel comfortable asking the artists I know to send things to you for inclusion unless I know if you already have them, and their permission. Just checking, and eagerly awaiting the t-shirts. Be sure to include some 'larger sizes' like 2xl and 3xl. Some of us are scottish athletes and are not 'wee folk'.

Yours aye,

david

Hey, Paul,

I'm just wondering if it's possible to request songs by title instead of just by the artist? And just in case you didn't see it the other three times I posted, love the girls voice! She should be good for a few new members herself.

Thanks, John

P.S. Love the lyrics idea, too.

I would love to hear Steeleye Span!!!!
and/or some side projects by the members-
Maddy Prior, Peter Knight,Tim hart,
silly sisters

http://www.shanachie.com/

from the shanachi site

Steeleye Span

The folk/rock movement which swept the world in the early Seventies was a daring initiative which combined the drive and electricity of rock 'n roll with the majesty and timeless beauty of traditional songs. Only musicians who understood the subtle dynamics of traditional music, but also knew how to unleash rock 'n roll spirit could combine these elements without destroying them. Steeleye Span, the world's greatest exponent of folk - rock, turn this trick with ease and with consummate skill.

" They perform ye olde ballads, but with rock instrumentalization. The effect is often magical: it's as if you were hearing rock 'n roll in the 60's - the 1660's." - MAINE TELEGRAM

" Maddy Prior has one of the greatest voices in folk or rock." - THE VILLAGE VOICE

The site can be a little difficult, go to celtic, the steeleye span, or the other request....to find them...

[FONT=Times][SIZE=7][SIZE=14]Paul, could you look into adding Hadrian's Wall to the list. They are from Canada and perform at most of the larger Celtic Fests along the east coast of the U.S. You can contact Neil from the web page.

Hadrian's Wall and Glengarry Bhoys are awesome bands.

A band that would make a great addition to your site is a rocking band out of western New York named Kilbrannan. They are a four piece band that performs traditional Irish/Scottish/celtic tunes in their own style and some very impressive originals. They have two CD's to their credit and their lead singer Kirk McWhorter has two solo Cd's.

Locate them at Kilbrannan

Catherine-Ann MacPhee! One of the best traditional Scottish singers I've ever heard.

Paul, here's another group you might want to look into. Brother, a group from Australia. They tend to tour the U.S. east coast but they seem to appear at a lot of shows that the Wicked Tinkers are playing at. Both groups like to jump on stage with each other and that's when the madness begins. The duel didgeridoos are awesome.
You can check out the Brother page at: http://www.brothermusic.com/

I would like to hear some Father, Son and Friends, out of Dayton, Ohio. They do traditional Celtic music, and are fairly popular on the reenacting circuit. Joey Hall, "Father," has a voice suited to the music, and they are great to sit around the campfire with and have a session lasting into the wee hours. thumbs_up.gif Their website is http://www.fathersonandfriends.com. They have several CD's out, and the cast of the "Friends" part is constantly changing. They are an awsome group.

These are great suggestions! I will definitely save these links.

We are working on a soon to be release feature that will allow members to fill out a form that can be mailed to their favorite musician. Like a "Tell a Friend" form, but geared toward attracting interest from musicians.
