Hey everyone! Sorry I haven't been on latley. I've been at the barn latley because I was leasing a horse. But yesterday was my last day of my lease! :(  I had a riding lesson yesterday and I had fun! But , before I rode Mombo he took off into a hand gallop , and the little girl is only 7 and she fell off and mombo almost stepped on her! But , I wasn't scared to get on him because He knows that Im the boss and cant pull any tricks on me! The funny thing is that once the girl fell off him he stopped galloping , and came over to me.  :-0

Hi Highland Lassie,

It's good to see you back on again.  How is school?  My granddaughter started 2nd grade this year and so far she likes it real well.  She also starts gifted classes this coming week and she is excited about going.  She goes to another school 1 day a week for this.  My youngest daughter is teaching her how to ride and saddle up Maggie.  She is doing real well with this and she thinks it is the greatest.  Maggie is real gentle when the little ones are riding her, but gets a little bent out of shape when the adults ride.

A couple of weeks ago I went to a Celtic Festival and finally got to see the sword dance.  It was very entertaining.  The lady that danced did a terrific job. I thought of you when she was dancing.

Gotta go!  Have a good week at school.  Happy Trails To You!  :D

HI! I t is good to see you back. Hope you can find time to spend with Mumbo, now that you are back in school.  It sounds as though you are good for the horse.
Two of my grand children started first last month, one kindergarten, and one started first year of middle school with sixth grade. He rides the bus to our house, it is a shorter,  his mom comes over to take care of Red and Winter, then takes him home with her.  He just wants to play computer game when he is here. He is into Age of Empires and Bejewled.
By the way what was the name of the pony site?

Hiya =)
Sorry I haven't been online too much lately, but I'm still searching for a job...
No luck here =(

Ah, well... means I have more time to ride (Lynn always "hides" when I get onto the pasture, but quite unsuccessful, she's too big to hide herself). She looks thinner than she did before... work is good for her.

School is good , I started sept 4th. The pony website , i think you are talking about is Horseland.com , I dont play as much as I used to , it gets boring after a while. Mombo is doing good. I made him horse treats and he loved them so much!! If anyone who has a horse wants the recipe I can give it to them. Gotta gallop!! Bye! :D

Hi Highland Lassie,  When you get time I would like the recipe for the horse treats.  I buy Maggie the peppermint treats and she loves them.  Of course, she's not too finicky when it comes to food.  In the winter time I make  a concoction up for her, using dry oatmeal, carrots, apples and molasses.  She gobbles that up real fast.

::confused With the baking soda in it I'm thing these are baked if so at what tempature and how long.
Wonder if there is enough stickys to mix vitamans in the mix. :D

I cant believe I forgot The temperature for the  horse treats!!!

Preheat oven to 350 Mix all ingrediants in a big bowl. Keep foil on ungreased cookie sheets. Make the dough about 1 inch balls. It will make about 17 balls. Put them on ungreased cookie sheet bake for 12-13 minutes.let them cool for 30 minutes. Place in a zip lock bag. close the bag. mash all the cookies in the bag  so it makes big crumbs store at room temperature. Then serve it to your hungry friend!!  ;)

Dont feel bad about forgetting the temp.  Just about anyone that has cooked as many years as I have can figure out just about what temp to bake at.

BTW:   Alot of good recipes on the website you posted.

Oh dear you missed My Favorite horse. Also Summer is here, became my horse. Well, at my house, we have my son's girl friend's Quarter  horse King's something something Red something. She also has a Apalossa/Welch pony cross, Winter. She is white with a few very light brown spots. Kelly used to barrel race her.  Last my youngest daughter, Thea,  has a rescued cob that had bounded with her, when we went out to look at POAs for granddaughter. Since Moca Fudge was with the stallion in the field, it is highly likly she is breed. Granddaughter Gwen is sure Moca's baby will be born on her birthday, will have spots all over, and be a girl; she is going to name it Pepper Flower.

Here in the state of WV we have a Standardbred who is chestnut in color, her markings are a star with a connecting strip; left front ankle and right hind half pastern white.  She comes from a harness racing family with the USTA.  Her name is Maggie Mahone.  :D  She is one pampered and spoiled rotten horsie.

:) Hi little lassie. I was just wondering how Strawberry is doing after his nervous breakdown.

Posted by: Cabbagehome 19-Sep-2002, 07:27 AM
Hi you all! Falachaidh got me wondering, how many of us have horses or a horse they ride a lot?

Posted by: Aon_Daonna 19-Sep-2002, 08:56 AM
ok, to lighten this up:  ;)

I don't own a horse (tho I plan to one day) but I have 2 to ride. They belong to friends so I don't have to rent them.

Lynn: a beautiful, black Shire Horse Mare
Grandezza: Hannoveraner Mare, brown, jumping Horse

Posted by: Highland Lassie 19-Sep-2002, 04:09 PM
Strawberry is doing wonderful , but hes not my all time favorite any more. Mombo is , a Beutiful reddish chestnut Pure American Quarter horse. He is a awesome jumper. I think he was a jumper/hunter with his previous owner. He is for sale though. he is 3400. I wish i could buy him. Some day I will get a horse and I will be so happy when I do get one.  I just hope he gets a good home. :D

Posted by: Cabbagehome 20-Sep-2002, 09:36 AM
Lassie, Mombo sounds like, he is just like a younger version of Red. How far back is the King name on his line?
Aon, I think Hannoveraner's are such neet horses, but very hard to find here in the States. If I ever got a horse for hubby, it would have to be a Shire, to look right. When he did ranch work, when we lived in New Mexico, one couldn't tell who was doing the walking.

Posted by: Highland Lassie 20-Sep-2002, 08:03 PM
Hi cabbagehome. Well , I have no Idea what bloodlines or anything that mombo has , or if he is registered. Because He comes from a Horse dealer named Phil.  He brings Horses to our barn and trys to sell them. and mombo on the other hand has come from a slaughter auction.   Phil goes to slaughter auctions and things , and he sometimes brings thease horses down from canada.  Mombo is very thin. I can see all of his ribs. We made up the name Mombo for him. He is gaining weight and when he came his coat was very dull. Now that I put show sheen on him. I gave him a bath once a month. Now his coat is shimering! He is doing so much better than when he came to St.moritz stables.  The barn owner is just trying to take care of mombo and other horses from auction.  Thats what she does. She takes in unhealthy horses and gets them back to health. Well I'll see you guys later. Im on aol and lotas of people are instant messaging me! bye! :D

I may have talked of Fritz before, he's a rescued horse, too. After being the horse that teached the husband of my friend how to ride and to take care of a horse, he was about 16 - 18 at that point and now he's just being old and happy on the pasture.
They are keeping their horses outside with a big barn where they can go in and out anytime.

Posted by: Cabbagehome 27-Sep-2002, 11:16 PM
:) Moca Fudge was a rescued horse also. For some reason she bonded with my daughter, when we went to look at a pony for my granddaughter. The POA breeder had received 2 rescued horses, and was trying to flesh them out, and tame them down.

Lord of the dance was GREAT!!     I liked it alot! There was so much noise and the sound of the shoes when they were dancing was so unbelievable!!!! I LOVED it!! When you watched them it was sorta like it was addictable to watch them , you couldn't take your eyes off of them dancing!! My favorite part was when they all came out in Army pants and another dancer as the "Sargent" came out and ordered them to dance. Just like when a sargent would make them March. Gotta gallop! Bye bye now!

Posted by: Highland Lassie 11-Oct-2002, 06:52 PM
Hey! anyone have any pictures of there horses they can show me? Maybe I can get a picture of mombo on too!  Gotta go ! Bye!  :-0

I'm glad you enjoyed yourself, Highland Lassie!  I absolutely love dancing.  I'm sure that was a site to see, all those feet going at one time.   Did your Grandmother and uncle enjoy it?

Is Mombo doing ok?  Maggie is loving this cooler weather and she has been a little sassy lately.  I guess she was getting a little bored so she decided to go and visit a few of the neighbors.  Needless to say, we sent her to her own pasture and shut the gate.  It was quite funny though, my husband would get just about close enough to get her by her halter and she would take off!  Anyway she has calmed down again, but you never know what she might be like tomorrow!  :D

All horses  have off days though. gotta run byes! ::lol

Did seeing Lord of the dance, inspire your dancing any?  Have you talked to your teacher, on ony steps you saw, that you want to learn?

Posted by: Highland Lassie 23-Oct-2002, 05:38 PM
Yes , it did inspire my danceing. Although , Its not the type of dancing i do. It was Irish dancing and I do Scottish. I really liked it and want to learn Irish danceing some day.

Posted by: Cabbagehome 24-Oct-2002, 06:41 AM
So, like they aren't any thing alike? None of their steps could jazz up your solo interpative number. Bummer

Posted by: Highland Lassie 24-Oct-2002, 06:09 PM
Well recently , I have been learning a new dance called the Irish Jig. I like it alot with all the banging of the tap shoes. My dance teacher said the purpose of the dance was when a lady back then was mad when her husband didn't come home on time. I dont know if any one here has seen the irish Jig but if you did You would understand what I mean. I cant explain it that well I just know how it goes. ;)

Posted by: Cabbagehome 25-Oct-2002, 11:39 AM
:D My third year of brownies, we chose Irland as our country for international day. We looked real cute in our green skirts, doing the jig. Wish we could have had taps, but something about the school not letting us on the gym floor.
