Just a quick note that we plan on officially announcing the Celtic Radio Music Awards soon. But we wanted to give you a little idea of what we have been up to for the past month.

Delay has been caused by a perfect storm of problems and new initiatives coming together all at once. We are reconfiguring our Studio with new sound and recording devices (yes we will have pictures), microphones, mixing software, keyboard, preamps, new equipment to increase our product technology - we will be offering black T-shirts soon, replacement and upgrade of our webserver and implementing an online diaster recovery plan.

The plan is to truly enter the recording industry with the capability to produce both vocal and music in a multi-track studio. We will also be aquiring some musical instruments and more. Eventually we will be having guests online live and more.

So in a way this is all good news. We are retooling our studio with the capability to produce our own sound recordings and also produce our own shows - both Live and pre-recorded. This will be a new direction for us and we look forward to reinventing Celtic Radio to best serve musicians, listeners and our members.

The plan is to start slowly with all of this new equipment and build up our expertise and knowledge - so the future is definitely bright for Celtic Radio thanks all to the members that support our site and broadcast.

We will see where it all goes. I think we might be developing some new IDs for our Celtic Radio stream soon as a test. But don't look for any Live broadcasting for a while until we figure all of this out.

Have you bought a broadcast delay yet (for those "accidents" that happen during live broadcasts)? Symetrix makes some good products. 6100 Broadcast Audio Delay

That 6100 looks insane! We are far from that bit of technology in price and knowledge. Yes the transformation will take place over a long period of time. We need to first get all setup.

Turns out our pre-amp is not compatible with our setup, so time to do a RMA and select a more compatible device....

This project is bigger than a bread box! After initial tests with some of the equipment, we have made a few returns and have settled on the Focusite Saphirre 6 for our main mixer. Has some nice mixing dials, preamp and output for headphones for vocal recording.

Initially went with a condenser mic, but quickly learned that condenser mics are subject to alot of electrical interference. Without rebuilding our whole studio room we decided to go with a Dynamic mic which provides for better grounding and no interference upon testing.

The Shure Sm7B Vocal Dynamic mic by cardiod is the same mic used by Michael Jackson to record thriller. Should provide a clear vocal reproduction. Our guitar/instrument mic will be just a lowly radio shack dynamic.

Next comes midi cables for our studio keyboard and of course settling on mixing software which we are thinking on going with MixCrafter 5.0 which appears to be a mid-level entry software for our DAW.

Still waiting for various cables to complete the setup, but we have learned a tremendeous amount in a short period of time.
