Pick Pocket - a street urchin of the first class. He's grown up round the docks and made his living both from the obvious or carrier at the market stalls - good hunting grounds, if ye take my meaning hehe wink.gif He is between thirteen and fourteen, has black hair, black beady eyes that see everything and incredibly quick hands. He's never been to sea but would do everything to see more of the world. smile.gif

Hey guys! Sorry I haven't posted in a while sad.gif

I think Wiz was worried I'd abandoned ship, but for good reason I suppose. I've just been having a lot of stuff going on in life (who hasn't) and my internet's been disconnected...but I'm taking care of that! wink.gif

I'd love to develop Crabshack a little more but I'm unsure how you guys want him to play into the story, but regarding what old raven's said, I agree. Crabshack is definitely an intriguing antogonist in his own right!

I too am curious about the Oxymorons...mainly, who's willing to jump in and play 'em!

Play him the way you want, that is what makes this interesting, don't ask us just do it within reason ( no spaceships, alien life forms, etc. at least not yet ) LOL!

I though, since we're going to be spending a fair amount of time on a ship, that we should know what our Ocean Swallow looks like. smile.gif I found this Gun-Brig, and it seems to fit the situation finely. Although, we've probably got a 12 gun, which is slightly smaller and won't require too big of a crew. Altogether, I think there should be 20-22 men on board. The Captains Cabin will be raised, so there is a door entrance, and not s hatch. This leaves the rear part you can see higher, so there will be ladders on either side.

I hope everyone agrees, this is the perfect ship for our story. smile.gif

Ocean Swallow (aka Mercury) There are some super high resolution images on here, if you want a better detail view of the deck.

This is a fine looking ship, much bigger then I see us on the time now...

... remember we only at this time have about 12 hands manning this vessel, and that is a lot of sail for 12 to handle...

...the time period seems right, but the size is much to big.

I was thinking more along the lines of a Schooner! Any thoughts from the other players ?

This is more what I see us on:

Remeber we are on a private vessel not one that belongs to some crown!

Agreed. That is a 20 gun, and probably used a crew of at least 30. That's why I was going for something smaller, like a 12 gun. I think the sails are what actually make it look so much bigger. If you look at the deck view, it seems much more managable, and at 12, the entire boat would be about as long as the hull.

I looked for schooners, but none of them seemed to be very fortified. This only has 2 guns, and I have a feeling the Swallow takes on riskier hires than 2 guns can support.

Why don't we split the difference? A ship like the one I found with schooner sails, (which allow for higher speeds and manuverability). I like the shallower hull on that schooner too. We've already established a rear cabin, too. 10 gun?

*edit*
And no tiller. wink.gif

The Schooner is a much faster vessel... I can live with maybe a 10 gun... let us see what the others think before we write it in blood LOL!

Anything goes lads ..., as far as I am concerned anyway. I have to admit that i got no great knowledge on ships ..., but he, i think that sounds fine what ye suggest there. And speed is certainly what our bonnie boat does need right now ....

And i think there might some more crewmembers coming on board lately? So it could maybe slightly bigger but not unrealistic for twelve man to handle ....

Does that help in any way?

Sure does. smile.gif

And that's the beauty of lots of silent crew members. A lot of characters to take over if anyone wants to join in.

I just want you all to remember that Phartripper is a private individual and is not heavily funded... the size of the Schooner is probibly way above his means anyway..the promise of treasure ( ha, ha ) is most likely the only reason Shotglas is taking on this voyage! LOL!

A larger ship would not be available to one of limited resources...

I also like the odds to be against us every so often...

Any comments?
