I've been playing this game for a couple of years. I bought the cd at WalMart for around $10. You can get it directly from the developer, which is a bit better version because it includes a fly-by option. Or, you can download it free here. This is the best golf game I've ever played for pc. It is uncannily realistic, with ambient nature sounds for even more realism. If you do decide to download this game, and feel you would like to play online, you need to join a game ladder. The one I use is here. The rules for ladder play are simple. You must use the black tees. That is the setting on the game where you choose tee location, i.e. ladies, seniors, pro. So use the black tees. On the ladder site, you post your losses only. Sometimes, due to server crashes or other pc's you're linked to being old, slow, or bad connections, the game will have to end because another player has locked up or been dropped. In that case, the normal and courteous thing to do is to return to the room you were in when you started the game and wait for the others to return so as to resume the game. Games are typically 9 holes except for sudden death or other pre-arranged plans. In any event, it's a good idea at the start of a game to write down the names of the other players. Asking ahead of time if the displayed name is also their ladder name also helps to avoid confusion and misunderstandings. Keep track of the score, and have fun. The game includes chat, so making friends along the way is also a big plus. If anyone does try this game, and gets on the ladder system, look for me there. I usually try to play at least a game or two on the weekends. And of course, I'm Shamrock on the ladder. Contact me for any help you may need, and I look forward to seeing you at the 1st tee!

The peculiar evil of silencing the expression of an opinion is, that it is robbing the human race; posterity as well as the existing generation; those who dissent from the opinion, still more than those who hold it. If the opinion is right, they are deprived of the opportunity of exchanging error for truth: if wrong, they lose, what is almost as great a benefit, the clearer perception and livelier impression of truth, produced by its collision with error. ~John Stuart Mill, On Liberty, 1859

Education: that which reveals to the wise, and conceals from the stupid, the vast limits of their knowledge.
~Mark Twain
